Layer Launcher Creator Layer shortcut tool Manual for the Layer Launcher Creator (L2C) Tool In order to create a shortcut Android App for your layer you can use the Layer Launcher Creator (L2C) Tool. By simply filling in the Workspace folder, Layer name, the App title and the Package name this tool will generate an Android project for you which you can export to an APK . It is up to you how you want to distribute the APK : simply put an download link on your site and/or put in the App Market and/or use other distribution ways such as GetJar. For more information on how to publish your APK, for Android, please visit http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/publishing.html, For GetJar, please visit http://developer.getjar.com/ How to use the Layer Launcher Creator (L2C) Tool Step 1: open the LayerLauncherCreator.jar file and fill in the following fields: (please note: the layer name needs to be the same name as the name of your actual layer. The package name is normally indicated by layer name + your domain or company name) Step 2: After the project has been created, check the existence of the just created folder “[layarname]Launcher” in the indicated workspace. Based on the example above c:\workspace\kitarLauncher Layer Launcher Creator (L2C) Page 2 of 4 Step 3: opening the project within Eclipse: file New Android Project Step 4: In the new project screen, please select “create project from existing source”. Once done, give the project a name. In this example it has been given the name Kitar. You might receive a warning indicating “The API level for the selected SDK target does not match the Min SDK Version.” This can be ignored. Layer Launcher Creator (L2C) Page 3 of 4 Step 5: Modifying your project (icon settings) The first thing you want to do is to change the default icons, to be replaced with your layer icon. In the picture below you see the three sub folders within the res folder. Please put your own icon with the following pixels: -‐ -‐ -‐ drawable-mdpi: 32x32 drawable-ldpi: 48x48 drawable-hdpi: 72x72 Please note all error codes are written in English. In case you would like to translate them in other languages, please change the file strings.xml within the folder values Step 6: Creating APK for distribution. Please follow the steps in the procedure which you will start by Export your Android Application. Disclaimer: this tool is not supported.
