The Vito Taxi has been adapted by one80 Limited, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, from an
original Mercedes-Benz Vito.
Take-back of end-of-life vehicles. Coming full circle. At the end of its long life, you can return your
Vito to us for environmentally-friendly disposal in accordance with the EC End-Of-Life Vehicle
Directive. But that day lies a long way off.
The take-back of end-of-life vehicles applies in accordance with national regulations to vehicles
up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight. The Vito has met the requirements governing the suitability
of a vehicle’s design for reuse and recycling for a number of years now. A network of vehicle
take-back depots and dismantlers has been established which will process your vehicle in an
environmentally-friendly manner. The ways in which both vehicles and parts can be recovered are
subject to ongoing development and improvement. Consequently, the Vito will be able to comply
with any future increases in the recycling quota within the stipulated time limits.

The inclusion of our new generation of clean but powerful
EU5 engines has had a dramatic effect on performance over
their EU4 predecessors. The new 113CDI format engine delivers
17% more power and more torque than the original Vito Taxi.
But if you thought more power meant more fuel, you’d be wrong.
The EU5 engine uses our proprietary BlueEFFICIENCY technology,
which not only improves fuel consumption but also reduces CO2
emissions. The combination of a new battery management system,
an eco-fuel pump, eco-power steering, eco-starter motor and low
rolling-resistance tyres, culminate in better fuel economy, up 13%
on urban cycle (see page 18 for full details).

*Our unique Service ASSYST engine management system tells you when a service is needed and helps you to put more miles between trips to the workshop. It allows flexible oil change intervals of between 18,000 and 24,000 miles based on the intensity of vehicle usage.

This convenient feature allows the sliding doors to be opened
and closed within around five seconds – all at the push of a button.
Unlike the majority of hackney cabs, the Vito Taxi is licensed to
carry six people in its cabin; seven if the optional front passenger
seat is licensed and fitted.
Entry to the light, spacious and discrete cabin is through
electrically-operated sliding doors. The layout of three seats
facing forward and three facing back allows easy conversation
and leaves ample legroom to either stretch out or accommodate
extra shopping or baggage.

Accessible by everyone
Passengers have mixed physical abilities so we’ve made entry to
the Vito Taxi as convenient and comfortable as possible, even for
people with limited mobility.
• Ramps included as standard to aid wheelchair loading.
• Hearing loop to aid communication between driver and passengers
with a hearing impairment.
• Bright coloured strips on seating and steps helps visually impaired people.
• Electrically powered rear sliding entry doors operable by driver
and passengers.
• One new yellow grab handle on the near side B post passenger entrance
and two further grab handles on the C post entrances facilitate customer
access and exit.
• An electric step at each rear passenger entrance may be used by the
driver to ease customer access. These will automatically withdraw when
the driver presses a button on the centre console, when the parking brake
is released or when the vehicle moves off.

Manoeuvring city streets
As part of its Transport for London (TfL) Hackney Carriage compliance, the Vito Taxi had to
demonstrate it could execute a U-turn in a London street. We worked with an engineering
partner to specially develop a Rear Wheel Steer system that independently steers the wheels
to dramatically improve manoeuvrability in confined areas.
The Rear Wheel Steer system is actuated by a switch situated on the right
of the steering column. The system can be used on either lock but for safety
reasons will not operate in reverse, when the passenger doors are open or
at speeds above 5 mph.
