3. A Special Use Permit for a Neon Sign for the Linden Social Club located at 12 Linden St.
James Elkin told the board that he is leasing the property along with his partner for this social club that is a
cocktail bar with kitchen. The sign is being manufactured by a company in New York City using pale, softwhite lights. This sign is a calling card of some of the places he has lived prior to Geneva. He feels this is
a good, progressive sign and will only be lit when they are open. They currently close at midnight, but
during their busier times, they will be open to 1:00am or 2:00am depending on the day or crowd.
Mr. Commesso asked about it being too bright and Mr. Elkin showed the board a picture of the sign to show
that it would not be too bright.
No Public Comment was offered
Mr. Stewart noted that this is a Type II action with the Planning Board being lead agency with no further
SEQRA action required.
Action taken: Mr. Commesso moved to approve a special use permit for a neon sign for the Linden Social
Club located at 12 Linden St. with the understanding that the light will be turned off no later than thirty
minutes after closing. He sees no undesirable change to the neighborhood and feels this is a reasonable
request. This is neither a substantial request nor a self-created hardship, and will have no adverse effect
on the neighborhood, Mr. Richmond seconded
