Started in 1996 at Concordia University, the concept now boasts over 40 locations in Canada, the UK and the United Arab Emirates. OK, but first coffee. 4 OUR DRINKS Our beverages are handcrafted by our professionally trained baristas all day long, for all types of caffeine cravings you might have. We are proud to serve a wide range of traditional espresso drinks. Additionally, our partnership with Natrel allows us to offer the finest milk products, including fine filtered, lactose free, organic and flavoured varieties, along with a bevy of delicious single-serve beverages. Said to capture coffee’s true nature, espresso is a style of roast and a way to brew coffee. Named for the Latin word meaning “to press out,” it is brewed in small amounts under extreme pressure to produce coffee that is stronger in taste and concentration than regular drip coffee. Wake up and smell the coffee. 5 OUR FOOD The Java U menu includes classic breakfast items such as bagels (of course!), other early morning delights. Lunchtime staples include sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads that are all reinterpreted with exotic flavor combinations, including orange zest, pesto, hummus, and many more. No, Java U accepts franchisees based on personality, a desire to learn. Java U will provide all of the necessary training How much do I need to invest? Typically a franchisee will invest from $250,000 to $350,000 depending on the size of the location and the amount of leasehold improvements necessary What does the franchise include? As a Java U franchisee you will benefit from building design and construction assistance, site selection and lease negotiation assistance, R&D support, marketing support, training and on-going operational support. You will also be provided with fantastic gourmet product. Who designs and builds my Java U? Yes, we will provide you with all necessary real-estate support including helping you negotiate your lease. Can I own more than one Java U? Once we have established a strong relationship through the successful operation of one store, additional store rights will be made available. Do I need to work day-to-day in the store? The most successful model we have observed is one in which an owner is involved on a day-to-day level. Is there financing available through Java U? Although Java U does not offer financing, we do offer support in obtaining a small business loan. What is the next step?
