Make One Liter

Make One Liter
3.MD.2
You will need: variety of empty containers, 1 liter container, measuring cups, math journal
1.
Make the following table in your journal:
Container
Amount Poured
(capacity)
Amount of Water Added
to Make 1 Liter
2. Choose a container. Work with your partner and take turns adding water to
the container until you estimate you have poured one liter.
3. Pour the water from the container into the liter container to measure your
estimate. Did you make a liter? If not, how much more water do you need?
Do you have extra water left over?
4.
Determine the capacity you poured. Record your findings in the table.
5. If you did not make one liter, add water until you have exactly one liter.
6. Repeat with other containers.
