If the exhibitor fails to respond to a request to remove an animal, the Society may do so and any costs of removal will be borne by the Exhibitor. Any rabbit which shows symptoms of any disease is infested with fleas or mites and/or dirty, must be removed from the Showground immediately. If any exhibit is rejected on the grounds of infectious or contagious disease, then other exhibits from that rabbitry may also be excluded from the competition. The vet’s decision is final. SPECIAL NOTE The RA&HS reserves the right to combine the two Purebred judging days pending entry numbers. In the event of this, judging of all the Purebreds will take place on Saturday, 2 September. Also in the event of high entry numbers in the Showjumping section the RA&HS reserves the right to extend the judging to include Thursday 7 September. Official notification of judging day/s will be sent to exhibitors after the close of entries. All entries tendered are with this consideration. PURE BRED RABBIT REGULATIONS Judging will follow the BRC breed standard, with the ARBA breed standard being used for any additional breeds not covered by the BRC. In entering your rabbit you are inviting the personal opinion, on that particular day, of the duly appointed judge. The judge’s decision on the day is final and no correspondence will be entered into. All exhibits in breed classes must be wearing approved leg rings with the only exception being rabbits that have been marked with an official tattoo of the club or country of origin. The exhibitor may then only display a maximum size of business card or similar on their show cages. Handling: All animals must be handled with care and kindness. No rabbit is to be lifted by its ears or the scruff of the neck. The grooming of all breeds of rabbits must be completed and the exhibit penned 30 minutes prior to show commencement. The exception being long coated breeds, which are allowed to be groomed until 15 minutes prior to show commencement. No person/s other than officials of the South Australian Rabbit Association are permitted behind the barriers while judging is in progress. At the discretion of the Show Convenor any animal that is unable to be handled safely will not be judged. SHOWJUMPING REGULATIONS Only healthy, tame, clean and friendly rabbits are eligible to compete in the Showjumping competition. Exhibits may be any breed of domestic rabbit, no pedigree or registration is required to compete in this section; however all remaining general show rules will apply. Rabbits on any type of medication are not eligible to participate. Pregnant or Nursing Does are not eligible to compete. Rabbits should never be “pushed” or “forced” to complete a jump on the course and scooping is not allowed (scooping is determined as being a forward action of the handler’s hand behind the rabbit to encourage it to jump). In addition to this, rabbits on harness must not be “dragged” or directed with the feet of the handler. The handler may grab the harness to correct the rabbit if the handler is stationary. Competitors in the Adult Group 2 must use a “H Style” harness. No other type of harness is allowed. Rabbits must be handled in a humane manner and careless handling of rabbits will result in a warning. Judges have the right to ask an exhibitor to step down if cruelty is observed or suspected. Serious neglectful handling will result in disqualification from all classes entered. Only participating rabbits will be permitted in the event area. Only rabbits competing in the class being run will be allowed to use the jumping equipment. The equipment size, height and order will remain the same type and construction for each rabbit competing in that class. Please note that the classes may not run in the same order as printed in this schedule. Showjumping Ages: Ages will be calculated as at 5 September 2017. The minimum age of a rabbit entered will be six (6) months. Competitors are split into Junior and Adult groups depending on the age of the entrant/handler. Please take care to enter the correct classes as per your age as at 5 September 2017. Age groups are determined as follow. Junior group – You may be 14 years old or younger. Adult groups - You must be 15 years of age or older. Cleaning: It is important that each rabbit is well groomed, clean and long nails are trimmed before competition, to prevent contamination of the equipment or injury to the rabbit. Exhibitors must clean carpet and equipment thoroughly, if soiled, after the completion of the run. PET RABBIT REGULATIONS Competitors are split into Junior and Adult groups depending on the age of the entrant/handler. Please take care to enter the correct classes as per your age as at 6 September 2017. Age groups are determined as follow. Junior group – You may be 14 years old or younger. Adult groups - You must be 15 years of age or older. You may enter as many classes as you wish. Exhibits may be any breed of domestic rabbit, no pedigree or registration is required to compete in this section; however all remaining general show rules will apply. All animals must be handled with care and kindness. No rabbit is to be lifted by its ears or the scruff of the neck. Rabbit Ages: Ages will be calculated as at 6 September 2017. The minimum age of a rabbit entered will be ten (10) weeks. RABBITS PROHIBITION FROM EXHIBITING EXHIBITS NOT ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE Any exhibitor, in whose rabbitry a case of Myxomatosis is confirmed, may not exhibit at the show unless the elapse of 28 days has occurred from the last death. Any exhibitor, in whose rabbitry a case of Calici Virus is confirmed, may not exhibit at the Show unless the elapse of 90 days has occurred from the last death. An exhibitor must not compete if they have had unexplained deaths in their rabbitry within the 14 day period before the Royal Adelaide Show. Calici Virus should be expected in any sudden death especially if more than one rabbit in the household has died. Individual rabbits will also become ineligible to compete if previously entered in a display or show in the 14 days prior to this event. CAGES Exhibitors must supply their own show cages. Cages must have a solid leak proof tray/base, which cannot exceed half the total height of the cage. Shavings or litter must be contained in the base, under the wire floor. Wood construction of any type is not allowed. Cages should be designed and maintained in a condition as to not cause injury to stewards or the rabbits. All cages must be top opening and should be fitted with a 30 mm curtain ring on the front face of the cage to facilitate pen tag attachment. At the exhibitor’s discretion, cage curtains made of white cotton may be attached covering three sides only leaving the cage front and top clear. A cage curtain must not impede the stewards’ access. Cages are not to be marked with exhibitor name or stud prefix. Cages can be divided if the rabbits being exhibited are of the same breed and the size requirement is not compromised. The height of the cage should have sufficient clearance so that the rabbit’s ears do not contact the lid. 19 A maximum height of 45 cm applies to all show cages. The size requirements below are a recommendation for the wellbeing of your rabbit. Dwarf & Miniature breeds up to 2.25 kg (5 lbs) – 30 x 40 cm Medium sized breeds up to 3.65 kg (8 lbs) – 35 x 50 cm Large and Giant breeds – 40 x 60 cm The Show Committee can refuse cages of poor design and has the final say regarding the suitability of all show cages and curtains. EXHIBIT PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY A JUDGE No rabbit previously owned by a judge shall be eligible for exhibition under that judge until a period of three months has elapsed from the date of registration or transfer being recorded. LIABILITY All rabbits are entered at the risk of the owner. The RA&HS and the SARA Inc. will take all due care but accept no responsibility for the health and wellbeing of rabbits attending the Show. FEED AND WATER All exhibits must have water bottles fitted to their cages at all times. Owners are permitted to supply foodstuffs as they see fit. Loose hay must be contained in a hay cage or enclosure suitable for this purpose (e.g. cardboard toilet roll). The Vetting Officer, Show Convenor or other committee member may supply water to any animal if they feel it is necessary to do so. Water bottles should be attached in a manner that does not impede the steward’s ability to open the cage and remove the rabbit easily. 20 RABBITS LOP BREEDS CASHMERE LOP Class 1 - Cashmere Lop, Red Eyed White, kitten Class 2 -
