Drawing Ray Diagrams Need a straight edge Draw only enough rays to show the result 1. In your journal, draw a circle next to the left margin to represent the light source 2. Using the straightedge, draw a line down the right margin to represent the screen 3. Draw an upward- pointing arrow, 2 spaces tall, about 3 cm from the screen. (The arrow should be between the light source and the screen) 4. Draw 2 rays starting from the middle of the light source: a. one travels past the top of the arrow to the screen b. the other ray travels past the bottom of the arrow to the screen 5. The rays are to be drawn using a straightedge (light travels in a straight line) 6. The arrow should point away from the light source (show direction) 7. Draw the shadow image next to the screen in the margin (the size of the shadow matches the length of the distance between the 2 light rays on the screen) Now, draw the same set up except place the 2-space arrow halfway between the light source and screen. What happens to the shadow?
