TECHNICAL DATA SHEET SENSO INFORMATION ON USAGE Substrate preparation SENSO is a water –based textured finish with opaque, velvet metallic effect, for interior use. In SENSO plaster the light merges with matter, thanks to the combination of iridescent pearls and rough inert particles. This visual effect is inspired by the Italian renaissance process of cameo still seen today in the priceless De Medici family’s collections. SENSO thick plaster is similar to a metallic stucco and is developed only in delicate color tones, reminding the reflections of ancient silk and cameos , yet its versatility allows for both classical and modern textured effects. SENSO plaster is designed and formulated in Ivas factory in Italy , uniquely to achieve high hardness, consistency and durability performances, together with a VOC level close to zero (5x-10 x less than the average on the market , providing a uniquely Italian , eco –FRIENDLY decorative coating. Masonry , Drywall & Plasterboard substrates: The substrates should be thoroughly prepared by brushing manually. Poorly adhering coats of old paint should be removed or sanded. Make sure that fresh plaster has set before applying. Apply one coat of Metro Fix followed by one coat of Metro Cover to provide a smooth substrate. Pre-painted or varnished wood substrates: Partially or entirely scrape to remove any loose paint or varnish remaining or remove the paint entirely using chemical or solvent paint stripper. New or old wood substrates already treated as above: Spot grout to fill any gaps and micro-cracks using Metro Stuc. Lightly sand to make the surface to be treated smooth and even. Apply one coat of Metro Fix and sand lightly. Next, check the soundness of the substrate: if there is any dusting or if there are loose areas, another coat of Metro Fix should be applied. Apply one coat of Metro Cover to provide a smooth background. Thick-coat paint for the topcoat in a one-pack, physical drying, semi-gloss acrylic dispersed in water (B4.C.O.A.0.FA) Type: Mini roller , Gauguin Plastic Trowel , Mondrian Pad, Stainless Steel Pollock Trowel, Modigliani Serrated Spatula, depending on the desired effect. Indoors Ready to use. Cementitious plaster, painted plaster, exposed reinforced concrete, precast concrete panels, fibre cement, wood. SENSO requires a smooth substrate. Tape off all adjacent surface with the appropriate saferelease masking tape. Over primed or previously painted surfaces apply one coat of Metro Coat primer tinted to the desired color. Suede Effect: 1- Apply the SENSO using a microfiber roller sleeve in random curving “X’s”. Be certain to distribute into corners, ceiling and trim edges to achieve full coverage. Work an area that you can complete in 5-10 minutes and, while rolling across and down the wall , leave random jagged edges rather than straight rectangular edges to better blend each section as you complete the surface. 2-While the SENSO is still damp and workable , gently smooth and flatten the finish in random curving motions using Gauguin plastic trowel to create a soft random sueded effect. Be certain to float out and smooth the jagged edges , as you finish each section When blending sections , random roll over a portion of the previous section and gently smooth and soften with the same random curving technique. Textile effect: 1- Apply SENSO abundantly using a mini roller. 2- While still wet, drag horizontally with a Mondrian Pad and while the SENSO is still damp and workable, gently smooth and flatten using Stainless Steel Pollock Trowel. APPLICATION Environmental conditions Ambient temperature: min +5°C, max +40°C min. +41°F, max. +104°F) Relative ambient humidity: max 80% TECHNICAL DATA SHEET SENSO Industrial effect 1-Apply SENSO abundantly using mini roller. 2- Start working in a random chess board pattern while leaving 1/8” - 1/4” thick raised edges to your random rectangular shapes. Allow to partially dry for 10-20 minutes, then repeat the procedure until the depth of the squared-scratched effect is achieved. 3- Once the SENSO is slightly dry compress and burnish the entire surface in horizontal and vertical motions, highlighting the geometric industrial effect. Juta wallpaper effect: 1- Roller apply the SENSO in random curving “X’s”. 2- While the product is still wet , drag horizontally with a Mondrian Pad (2a) and, with the help of a second person , drag vertically with Modigliani serrated spatula (2b). Steel Effect: Apply two Senso skim coats using a stainless steel Pollock Trowel, working in different directions to achieve a wavy effect. Drying or curing time at ≈ 23°C (73.4°F) Touch: 3 hours Recoat: 24 hours Drying times may vary depending on environmental conditions and the thickness of the coats. Coverage 4-7 m2/l (43-75.3 sq ft/l; 160-280 sq ft/US gal) Coverage varies depending on the type of application.
