Dear Brewers and Winemakers,
Thank you for requesting our catalog. We are Philadelphia's original source of
quality beer and wine making supplies. We have been fostering the Philadelphia
Brewing Renaissance since our founding in 1986, Many of the professional
brewers in the area and around the nation began their brewing careers
homebrewing with us. We sponsor many brewing and beer events throughout the
area, as well as the local homebrew club, Homebrewers of Philadelphia and
Suburbs (H.O.P.S.). Please ask us for information on upcoming events.
Home Sweet Homebrew is operated by George Hummel and his partner, Nancy
Rigberg. George is a member of an old Philadelphia brewing family. He is an award
winning homebrewer nationally and locally. George has taught classes on beer
and brewing at Temple and Drexel Universities. He is an author of several beer
columns and is also a nationally recognized beer judge. He was the author and
cover photo for Mother Earth magazine’s Twenty Fifth Anniversary edition,
featuring homebrewing. Nancy’s background is in the Natural Foods Industry. She
is an experienced homebrewer and winemaker, president of H.O.P.S. (Homebrewers
of Philadelphia and Suburbs), beer columnist and nationally recognized beer
judge. She has also taught beer and wine classes at Drexel University. We are both
Professionals du Vin in the International Society of Chaine de Rotisseurs. We are
also recipients of the Governor’s Inspiration Award and Inductees into the
Keystone Society of Tourism. We offer our years of experience to you. When

To get you started, we've prepared several different ingredient packages. Each
includes all the ingredients that you will need to produce 5 gallons of an all
malt, world class beer. You get malt, brewing yeast, priming sugar and hops--all
pre-measured and easy to use. WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN

for the home winemaker. If you do not see what you need listed, please inquire.

Winemaking with concentrates is as easy as following the instructions on the
Ingredient package using one of our WINEMAKING EQUIPMENT KITS.

All our "Intermediate Brewing Recipe Packages" are partial grain/extract beers.
Our exclusive recipes come with complete and easy instructions. They can be
brewed by anyone at the intermediate brewing level. Beginners seeking the next
level will not be intimidated but all grain brewers looking for a quick batch will
appreciate their convenience. They contain suitable amounts of malt extract, premeasured specialty grains, hops, priming sugar and yeast. They do not include
bottle caps. We offer an excellent dry yeast, however, if you prefer a liquid yeast

At Home Sweet Homebrew, we believe in diversification. Consequently, we
endeavor to offer every hop variety available to us. Although many hops may have
similar alpha acids, they all impart different nuances to the finished beer. Don't be
afraid to try a new one or to mix your own personal blend! If you are unfamiliar as
to a particular hops' characteristic, just ask!
Although, of course, certain Beer Styles have their appropriate Hop types,
we believe that ultimately it's your beer.

5-Liter Mini-Keg System:
Small cans that will fit in the refrigerator. Four cans will generally do a batch of beer or
you can bottle some and keg the rest. The ‘new’ Mini-Kegs now come with a Built-in Gravity
