Year 12 Geography Trip to Bournemouth 21st April 2017
An early start saw the boys in school for 7.15am and we arrived at our first stop - Hengistbury Head at
around 9.30am.
We visited 4 sites in total, including Hengistbury Head, Boscombe, Bournemouth & Sandbanks and
collected lots of data to help answer our enquiry question: “What impacts do different methods of coastal
management have on coastal processes and ecosystems at Bournemouth?”
Needless to say on the way home the boys were fast asleep after all that sea air!

U18 Handball Team Qualify for National Cup Final… Again
On Saturday past the U18 team from Carshalton travelled
to Stoke Mandeville to face old rivals Warrington Wolves in
the national cup semi-final. Having met at the same stage
last season and throughout the league campaign this term
the teams knew each other particularly well. Billed up to
be a pretty close game that is where it ended with
Carshalton going into a 9 goal lead 15 minutes into the
first half. With defence and goalkeeping of the highest
order the team only conceded 4 goals in the first 30
minutes. This set the tone for the game and Carshalton
ran out comfortable 23-12 winners in the end with all
players getting lots of game time. They now move on to
play another old rival in Manchester Hawks for the second
year in a row on Sunday May 21st at The Copperbox
(10:30am start).
There will be further information and tickets available for this event. If you see any of the boys (or Mr
Wyatt) then wish them good luck.

University Trip
41 students went to the University of Sussex as part of the first generation scheme to get students
interested in university after schooling. All of the students had a great time asking the student
ambassadors about their time, what they are studying and learning about student finance. Thanks to
Helen and Aimee for their support.”
Year 10 & 11 South London Rugby Union CHAMPIONS!!!
On Tuesday fifteen year 10 and 11 students took part in the South London Rugby Union Final against
Woodcote High School. The boys not only won the fixture with an impressive score of 46-10, however
what was more impressive was the way the students conducted themselves and showed great
sportsmanship. Stand out performers during the game were Grant Viljoen, Rhys Timms and David
Williams. They were absolutely fantastic on Tuesday and have been outstanding throughout the year.
They thoroughly deserve to be crowned the Year 10 and 11 South London Rugby Union CHAMPIONS!!!

Chicken as a meat has been depicted in Babylonian carvings from around 600 BC. Chicken is the most
common type of poultry in the world. There are more chickens on earth than people. The largest serving
of fried chicken (2,493 lbs) was served at Kentucky Fried Chicken in celebration of the restaurant's 70th
anniversary.
