read and received.

road Tax, assessed in 1843 which was granted*

On Motion of Mr. Goldsberry
Ordered That the fine assessed against Mr. Bud for the non-payment
of his road Tax in 184o be remitted.
The Members of the Council, under the Resolution of the 24th day
of April 1844, requiring the Councilman of each Ward to report at
the next meeting of the Council thereafter, the improvements necessary to be done in his ward, to place the same in a good condition
made reports on that subject, which were read and ordered to be
filed.
On Motion of Mr. Griffith
Resolved That the amount arising from poll Tax, on the south side of
Mashing ton Street, whether paid in labour or money shall be applied
to the south side of said street, and the amount arising from said
Tax on the north side of said street shall be applied in like manner
to the north side in each ward respectfully.
On Motion of Mr. Griffith
Resolved That before any side ditch shall be opened it shall be the
duty of the Supervisor to call on the town Engineer whose duty it
shall be to set stakes showing the depth required by the grade of
such ditch.

On Motion of Mr. Goldsberry
Ordered That the Supervisor have the ditch opened, on the East
side of Illinois Street, between Washington and Maryland Streets.
Goldsberry presented the petition of James IV. Hill and others
praying the Council for the passage of an Ordinance to prevent
dead animals removed from the town of Indianapolis, being deposited
or thrown into any of the out streets and Alleys, within the donation. Tihich petition was refered to Messrs. Rooker, Montague &
Goldsberry as committee; with instruction to report an Ordinance
on the subject at the next meeting of the Council if they shall
deem it expediant.

Resolved That the Councilman of each Ward be required to expend
a sufficient amount of the Road Tax due his Ward on Yvashington
Street, to place the same in good repair.
On Motion of Mr. Goldsberry
Ordered That the footbridge at Norwood Corner be repaired.
Mr. Griffith Committee to have said work done.
And the Council adjourned.
