New and even better this year!!! You don’t have to be a painter to participate in this
exciting event! Plus there is no registration fee!
The Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission is proud to announce its fifth annual plein air event,
Art and About: The Jim White Memorial Paint Out in Waterville! This annual plein air event is
being retitled to honor the memory of local artist, Jim White, who passed away this year. Jim
always painted in our event and he will be truly missed. Art and About begins on June 15 and
16 with a Plein Air paint-out. Then on June 17, Celebration of the Arts will be held in downtown
Waterville.
Celebration of the Arts – Saturday, June 17
There will be an opportunity for all types of artists to sell their work on Saturday, June 17 from
1:00 to 5:00 at Celebration of the Arts. This year’s event will be held entirely in downtown
Waterville.
Super changes for June 17 event are in store this year. N. 3rd St. in downtown Waterville (the
main downtown street) will be closed to traffic and artists will be invited to set up a booth and
sell their work. Judging and voting on Plein air paintings will occur at the Clock Tower along
with a children’s craft area.
More good news - Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission is joining with two other
exciting events also occurring on June 17. The Waterville Historical Society will be hosting
tours of six historic homes in the downtown Waterville area. At 6:00 pm the very popular
Rock the Block Street Party will be held with live music, a beer tent and more! This
teamwork will bring LOTS of visitors to Waterville on June 17!
The Celebration of the Arts event will include:
 Artists’ booths on N. Third St. – set up beginning at noon – all art mediums will be
included – booths open 1:00 to 4:00 Artists will sell and demonstrate their arts
 Strolling performance artists on N. Third St.
 Children’s art activities at the Clock Tower
 Chalk drawing event on N. Third St. sidewalks
 Display and judging of the plein air paintings at the Clock Tower with prizes being
awarded to first, second, and third places



Public voting for their favorite work to receive the People’s Choice Award
Music during the afternoon on N. Third St. stage

Additional Information
There is no registration fee for artists to participate in either the Plein Air or Celebration of the
Arts portions of the event but artists will be requested to donate 10% of any sales that occur
during the event.
Judging of Submitted Work
Judging of work created during the Plein Air event will occur on Saturday, June 17.
The following prizes will be awarded by AWAAC:
First Place - $150
Second Place - $100
Third Place - $75
People’s Choice Award - $100
Honorable mention – ribbon
