PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The focus of the program and the field trips reflect the multicultural legacy of the three religious groups
in Medieval Spain that are visible in Andalusia. Thus students will visit the Foundation of the Three
Cultures- a cultural center designed to educate and inform about Seville’s legacy of coexistence and
tolerance as a model for contemporary societies. Students will have the opportunity to visit The Museum
of Fine Art, The Alcazar Gardens, a current feature in the last two seasons of Game of Thrones, The
Museum of Flamenco Dancing, and the Plaza de España, which was featured in Star Wars and Lawrence
of Arabia. Students will also visit Seville’s soccer stadiums, The Tower of Gold Navy Museum and the
Cathedral of Seville where the tomb of Christopher Columbus is located.
Students will spend a weekend in the city of Granada, where the Alhambra Palace and the tombs of
Ferdinand and Isabella are located. Students will tour the city of Madrid and visit the Archaeology
Museum and the Prado Art Museum. Students will spend a day in Cordoba, the largest European city
during the 8th and 9th century and home to the world’s second largest mosque in the world, an
