DIRECTIONS
Prep: Use when temperature is between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. Lightly sand glossy surfaces to improve paint adhesion.
Clean surface with soap & water, rinse and let dry. WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN
CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to
control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead
Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
Priming: If painting bare metal or bare wood, prime first using Painter’s Touch® or American Accents® latex primer. After priming bare wood, sand lightly to smooth out the surface.
Paint: Stir thoroughly. Thinning is not required. In hot, dry conditions, however, you may thin up to 2-oz. water per quart, to extend dry time. Use a good quality synthetic brush or
1/4”– 3/8” nap roller. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling. Clean hands and tools with soap and water.
Dry & Recoat Times: Dries to touch in 30 minutes and to handle in 2 hours at 70°F (21°C) – 50% humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. If needed, a second coat can be
applied after 4 hours.
Conditioning & Use: After 3 days, the chalkboard finish is ready to use. Before writing, condition the surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over the entire surface and erase.
This will leave a coat of chalk dust that will provide the best erasability. Chalkboard can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Wait 7 days after painting before wiping it down. Repeat
conditioning step after cleaning.
Child-safe. Non-toxic when dry.
Caution: Do not take internally. MAY CAUSE DELAYED SKIN AND EYE IRRITATION.
Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe dust, vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or dizziness
or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor/mist levels are above applicable limits wear an appropriate, properly fitted respirator (NIOSH/MSHA approved) during and after application. Follow
respirator manufacturer’s directions for respirator use. Close container after each use. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. First Aid: If you
experience difficulty in breathing, leave area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with
plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; get medical attention. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately. Unleaded - Safe for use on children’s toys, furniture, etc.
