ADVISORYCOUNCIL

This is my second year as Chairman of the St. Thomas More Advisory
Council. The Advisory Council is comprised of ten members who are
elected by the parents of current students or appointed by the STM
Chancellor.
The primary function of the Advisory Council is to develop a budget to
provide for the school’s financial and physical well-being and growth.
The Advisory Council formulates broad policies for the school and
implements a development program incorporating a long range plan
which includes active positive public relations and marketing of the
school.
I am blessed to be a part of a group of people who serve selflessly
and who are willing to fully embody their duties as members of this
council so that our current, former and future students will enjoy only
the best that a high school can offer.
The Advisory Council has worked with administrators, teachers,
students, parents, and alumni to create a robust Long Range Plan
which addresses the future needs of every member of our STM
family. In the coming months, you will learn more about this plan and
the incredible future it provides for STM.
It is, indeed, a tremendous time to be a part of the
St. Thomas More Catholic High School family as we enjoy
unprecedented spiritual, academic, athletic and extracurricular
success. I use the word family because I am convinced that the
root of our success as a school family is the same source of any
successful family – our individual and collective focus on Jesus Christ.
The future of St. Thomas More is optimistic and can only be sustained
through the continued involvement of every member of our family.
Your involvement might be through volunteering at school, mentoring
students, making a financial contribution, or simply praying for the
teachers, administrators and students. Please know that you are
always welcomed and encouraged to find a place at St. Thomas
More Catholic High School.

Dear Friends of St. Thomas More,
It has been a pleasure working with the Chancellor, administration, boards, staff, parents
and students of STM in the role of STM Foundation President for the 2013-14 academic
year. The STM family is blessed with a faithful and generous community that prioritizes
and values Catholic education and responds to the needs of this school accordingly.
At the close of the 2014 academic year, through the generosity of our donor contributions,
the STM Foundation endowed fund totals $3,168,931. A portion of the interest earned
each year is returned to the school to aid in tuition assistance and support teacher salaries
and benefits. Total distributions from the Foundation to the school now exceed $900,000.
I would also like to thank the Advisory Board under the leadership of Dr. Bryan Sibley,
Mr. Rob Eddy along with our Advancement Department, and many volunteers for their
diligent and tireless efforts to see a comprehensive STM Strategic Plan developed and
adopted by all boards. This plan emphasizes the Foundation’s focus on planned giving to
support the endowment of the school.
As part of that focus, the Foundation will sponsor a Planned Giving Seminar for attorneys,
CPAs, and insurance professionals. This seminar will allow these professionals the
opportunity to earn CEUs and learn more about the opportunities for planned gifts to the
STM Foundation.
In the first year of the STM Building More Appeal, the Foundation received $32,500 from
the appeal for endowed funds. Our Clays Shoot was a joint effort of the Foundation and
Alumni Association and contributed $22,500 to the Foundation’s endowment. In addition,
the Foundation was one of the beneficiaries of the James M. Bernhard, Jr. Charitable
Remainder Trust which reached maturity in the spring of 2014 in the amount of $416,251.
We invite you to give to the STM Foundation by considering a planned gift or by becoming
a Utopian Donor. If you need further information, please don’t hesitate to contact our
advancement office.
The STM Foundation, consisting of our volunteer Board of Trustees, working together
with our Chancellor, administration, and advancement office, continues to assist STM to
