THANK YOU!!! Thank you to the incredibly driven and motivated SCS PA Fundraising Committee; thank you to all
the SCS parents and community members who donated lots generously to the auction; thank you to all the people
who attended the auction and supported the school by purchasing lots; thank you to Charl Auret for ensuring the
success of the evening by being a very funny and brilliant auctioneer. Just over R400 000.00 was raised. This money is
for a multi-purpose all-weather sports training surface and playground upgrade.

Wildlife Around the School
Having a school in a wildlife reserve comes with
great benefits but it also provides us with the stark
reality of the conditions wild animals are faced with
when weather conditions impact negatively on the
bush. This beautiful giraffe attracted by the greenery
around the school buildings was photographed
alongside the Earth Circle earlier this week. The
bush is extremely dry with virtually all the grass
cover gone and trees dropping their leaves the
areas around the school buildings provide the last
remnants of greenery. Warthog, nyala, waterbuck,
impala, kudu, giraffe and zebra are seen around the
school buildings much more frequently now than
usual. The Raptor’s View Estate management team
has implemented a programme to reduce the number of animals on the estate and to feed those that
remain. The reality is that this is going to be a very
long, tough winter for our browsers and grazers on
the estate. We can only hope that the rains next
season are good and that they come reasonably
early. Fortunately our school dam still has water in
it and we will enjoy the resultant game viewing.
