This beautiful giraffe attracted by the greenery around the school buildings was photographed alongside the Earth Circle earlier this week. The bush is extremely dry with virtually all the grass cover gone and trees dropping their leaves the areas around the school buildings provide the last remnants of greenery. Warthog, nyala, waterbuck, impala, kudu, giraffe and zebra are seen around the school buildings much more frequently now than usual. The Raptor’s View Estate management team has implemented a programme to reduce the number of animals on the estate and to feed those that remain. The reality is that this is going to be a very long, tough winter for our browsers and grazers on the estate. We can only hope that the rains next season are good and that they come reasonably early. Fortunately our school dam still has water in it and we will enjoy the resultant game viewing.
