SANTA CLAUS TEACHES US
SANTA CLAUS NOS ENSEÑA
Preparing to go to bed I heard a noise in the front of the
house. I opened the door: Santa himself stepped out from
behind the Christmas tree. “What are you doing?” I started to
ask. The words choked up in my throat and I saw he had tears
in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. He then
answered me: “Teach the children”.
A punto de ir a acostarme, oí un ruido delante de la casa. Abrí
la puerta: ¡Santa salió detrás del árbol de Navidad!
“¿Qué haces?” le pregunté. Ya no pude hablar más y vi que
Santa lloraba. Su habitual alegría se había ido de él.
Entonces, él me respondió: “Enseña a los niños”
Then Santa brought forth a miniature toy bag and said,
“Teach the children the meaning of Christmas. The meaning
that now-a-days Christmas has forgotten”. Santa then pulled
out a Fir Tree: “Teach the children it that the pure green
color of the fir tree remains green all ear round, depicting the
everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point
heavenward, making it a symbol of man´s thoughts turning
toward heaven”. He pulled out a brilliant Star: “Teach the
children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long
ago. God promised a Savior for the world and the star was the
sign of fulfillment of His promise”.
He then pulled out a Candle: “Teach the children that the
candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world and
when we see this great light, we are reminded of He who
displaces the darkness”. And he pulled out a Wreath:
“Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real
nature of love. Love is one continuous round of affection”.
He then pulled an ornament of Himself: “Teach the children
that Santa Claus symbolizes the generosity and good will we
feel during this time”. He then brought out a Holly Leaf:
“Teach the children that the holly plant represents
immortality and the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The
red holly represents the blood shed by Him”.
Next he pulled a Gift: “Teach the children that God so loved
the world that he gave himself for us. Thanks be to God for
his gift. Teach the children that the Wise Men bowed before
the Holy Babe and presented him with their presents. We
should always give gifts in the same spirit of the wise men”.
Santa then pulled out a Candy Cane and hung it on the tree:
“Teach the children that the candy cane represents the
shepherds´ crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back
strayed sheep to the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that
we are our brother´s keeper”.
He pulled out an Angel: “Teach the children that it was the
angels tht heralded in the glorious news of the Savior´s birth:
´Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace and good will
toward men”. Finally he pulled out a Bell: Teach the
children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the
bell, it should ring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes
guidance and return”.
Santa looked back at me and was pleased. I saw that the
twinkle was back in his eyes. He said: “Remember, teach the
children the true meaning of Christmas and do not put me in
the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One that is,
and I bow down to worship Him, Jesus Christ our Lord, our
God.
Y Santa sacó un saco pequeñito de juguetes y dijo: “Enseña a
los niños el significado de la Navidad”. El significado que
hoy se ha olvidado”. Entonces Santa sacó un Abeto:
“Enseña a los niños que el color verde del abeto permanece
verde todo el año para representar la eterna esperanza de la
humanidad. Sus puntas señalan al cielo como símbolo de los
pensamientos del hombre que se dirigen hacia el cielo”.
Y sacó una Estrella brillante: “Enseña a los niños que la
estrella era la señal de las promesas del cielo. Dios prometió
un Salvador a la humanidad y la estrella era la señal del
cumplimiento de su promesa”.
Luego sacó una Vela: “Enseña a los niños que la vela
simboliza que Cristo es la luz del mundo y cuando vemos su
luz debemos recordarle a él, que aleja la oscuridad”.
Y sacó una Corona: “Enseña a los niños que la corona es
símbolo del auténtico amor. El amor es un continuo fluir de
afecto”.
Y sacó un adorno de Él mismo: “Enseña a los niños que
Santa Claus es símbolo de generosidad y los buenos deseos
que sentimos en este tiempo”. Y sacó una Hoja de Acebo:
Enséñales que el acebo representa la inmortalidad y la corona
de espinas que llevó nuestro Salvador. El acebo rojo
representa la sangre que Él derramó”.
Luego sacó un Regalo: “Enséñales que Dios amó tanto al
mundo que se entregó por nosotros. Démosle gracias por su
regalo. Enseña a los niños que los Reyes Magos adoraron al
Niño y le hicieron sus regalos. Nosotros debemos también
dar regalos con el mismo espíritu que aquellos magos”.
Y Santa sacó un Bastón de Navidad y lo colgó del árbol:
“Enseña a los niños que este bastón representa el cayado de
los pastores. El cayado en el bastón ayuda a volver al rebaño
a las ovejas perdidas. Simboliza que somos guardianes de
nuestros hermanos”.
Luego sacó un Angel: “Enseña a los niños que los ángeles
fueron los heraldos de la gran noticia del naci-miento del
Salvador: ´Gloria a Dios en el cielo y paz en la tierra a los
hombres de buena voluntad”. Por fin sacó una Campana:
“Enseña a los niños que como las ovejas regresan por el
sonido de la campana, así también los hombres deben volver
al redil. La campana simboliza guía y regreso”.
Santa me volvió a mirar y estaba contento. Yo vi que la
alegría le había vuelto al rostro. Dijo: “Recuerda, enseña a los
niños el verdadero significado de la Navidad, y o que no me
pongan a mí en el centro, porque yo sólo soy un servidor del
Niño. Yo adoro al Niño, Jesucristo nuestro Señor y Dios.

Today we remember the three wise men from the East who
came to pay homage to the infant Jesus, bringing Him rich gifts
of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The gifts we bring − our time,
service and some share of what we earn for the work we do −
are equally previous in His sight.

rendir homenaje al niño Jesús, trayéndole regalos ricos de oro,

Gracias a todas las personas que participaron en las
celebraciones de la Navidad y el Año Nuevo. Gracias a todos
los que cuidadosamente pusieron el nacimiento en el altar, a

decoradores, y gracias también a las manos que decoraron las
