This weeks teacher talk features Ms. Hahn. She attended
college at the Universidad de
las Americas in Puebla, Mexico
(B.A. in psychology,) Miami
University (B.S. in education,)
and Wright State (M.S. in counseling.) Ms. Hahn has been
teaching 33 years total, including 1 year in Mexico, 6 years in
Colombia, 3 years in Peru, 1
year in Honduras, 1 year in
Guatemala, and 21 years here
at Whiteoak. She decided to
become a teacher because
she wanted to live overseas
and that was the best way because you live in the culture. Ms.
Hahn’s most memorable moment
while teaching is when “I yelled at
a class all period for doing or not
doing something (I forget what)
and as the kids left, they all
THANKED me. I asked why- they
said they deserved to be yelled
at!” she said. One thing Ms. Hahn
would like to say to everyone is
that after she retires next year,
she's moving to Ecuador and all of
us can come visit her.

Senior Spotlight: Shelby Fitzgerald
This week's senior spotlight is
on Shelby Fitzgerald. Shelby is
the daughter of Don and Sandra Fitzgerald. Her plan after
high school is to go to college
to be a law enforcement officer
or a real- estate agent. Shelby’s dream is to go to college
and get a job. One of her favor-
ite memories at Whiteoak is when
“I was in Mr. Arledge’s room and
Tyler Magulac asked ‘Where is the
best place to kill a deer?’ and I
said in the woods”. Shelby's favorite teacher is Mrs. Dietz because
“she’s always there to help me
and keep me on task”.

Spanish 1 Food
Spanish 1 always likes to make and eat
tortillas...the real thing! In Mexico,
there are no hard "taco shells". Tortillas
are made from wheat in the north of
Mexico and from corn in the south. We
made corn tortillas using masa harina
(found in Kroger and Wal-Mart) along
with salt and water. Cora shaped the
dough and Cylee smashed and cooked.
Honestly, I have never seen tortillas so
perfectly shaped!!! They did so much
better than I could do!!!
