Dear Reader,
I would like to announce the arrival of the newest addition to my book
family! (Let me take a moment here to apologize for the “oops” on the back
cover. Andrea is still a nurse, just as she was in Love’s Inferno, not a social
worker.)
You’d think after five books, the thrill would be gone, but I still get so
excited when one of my babies hit the shelves. Just for kicks, I usually drive
around to all my local bookstores to see where they are positioned in the store.
Sometimes, I even move books around . . . shhh, don’t tell anyone. ☺ Quite
honestly, I hope this unique feeling of elation never goes away, even after
twenty books!!

Next, I would like to say Happy Juneteenth!!! For anyone who doesn’t know
what it is, here is a brief description of this little known, but very important
holiday, taken from Wikipedia: Though the Emancipation Proclamation had
been announced on January 1, 1863, it had little immediate effect on most
slaves’ day-to-day lives, particularly in Texas, which was almost entirely under
Confederate control. Juneteeth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day Union
General, Gordon Granger, and 2,000 federal troops arrived on Galveston Island
to take possession of the state and enforce slaves’ new freedoms.
This June 19th, please take the time to honor our ancestors
by celebrating Juneteenth with your family and friends.
I’m off to Dallas, TX next month to attend my very first RWA (Romance
Writers of America) Conference. This is the largest romance writers and readers
conference in the world, and I am very excited about attending. More
