Your Why can be used as a motivator It can get you through tough times Your Why should reflect deeper goals/meaning to your day o It shows that you know your core beliefs It connects your choices to your desires and dreams In marketing shows authenticity o Attracts the right types of people This example comes from the book “The Compound Effect”. If I were to put a ten-inch-wide, 30 foot long plank on the ground and say “if you walk the length of the plank, I’ll give you $20. Would you do it? Probably… sounds like an easy $20 to me! What if I took that plank and used it to make a bridge that connected the roof tops of two 30 story buildings? That $20 doesn’t look too good now does it? However, if your child was on the opposite building and that building was on fire, would you walk the length of the plank to save him? Most people would say YES. Twenty dollars or not. What changed? The risks are the same. The danger is actually greater now. What changed? Your “WHY” changed. With a big enough reason “WHY”, you would perform almost any “HOW” "I believe that if you have the passion and the desire to succeed in your business, you deserve the encouragement, guidance, and support that's required to get you there" -- Terry McIntosh This came from my own struggles and lack of help and support I received during critical points in my business and personal growth. Most business owners that are happiest and most successful are one’s that are driven by passion and are really doing this for reasons bigger than themselves. Here are a few questions to ask yourself: What does success mean to me? What am I most passionate about? In what way is my business an extension of my passion? If I could make a difference for anyone or anything, what would it be? What are some small steps I can take to begin to make that difference? How can I support or contribute to a cause, organization, individual or group that stands for something that is important to me? Is my passion represented in my company culture, mission and vision?
