Electives & Specials
Additional materials may be required for electives and enrichment classes. Teachers will distribute that information to
students/parents on the first day of class.
Organizational Systems:
Students should be organized in such a way that gets them to and from class with supplies, materials and papers. Many
teachers already require a separate notebook, or have an organizational plan of their own. Before buying something
expensive, you may want to wait to see if it is needed. A trapper-keeper type notebook with a shoulder strap seems to be
the system of choice with middle school students, but it is not required and they tend to not fit in book bags or lockers.
The notebooks with accordion pleated pocket folders included work well. Another method is to have a spiral notebook
with a matching folder of the same color--these two always stay together with the textbook. Some students do well to
coordinate colors of supplies with subjects, or even to the main color of the textbook, such as: Bible = purple supplies;
English=yellow; math=blue; history=red; science=green so that when they look in their locker they look for colors.
