Tips & Guidelines
®
Candy Buffets are a sweet addition to any occasion.
They’re perfect for Weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs,
Graduation and Anniversary parties,
or any Corporate or Fundraising event.
Getting started is easy - just follow our tips and guidelines
below and you’ll be on your way to a sweet buffet in no time!
Themes and Colors
Similar to other elements of your party,
you can personalize your own candy buffet
by choosing items that fit within your color
scheme and theme or occasion. Select two or three colors that
complement the rest of your event and choose candy in those
colors. Or, choose candy that represents the occasion or
your theme.
Quality and Quantity
Of course, the most important element
of your candy buffet is the candy! When
choosing candy to include, keep in mind types
of candy that you like. Choose things that both look and taste good,
and make it personal. Also remember to include different types of
candy. For instance, don’t choose only chocolate or only gummi
candies. Mix it up! Opt for candies that look different, as well.
M&M’s are a great option and come in a variety of colors, but also
try rock candy or candy sticks.
Quantity isn’t the only factor dependent on your guest list - keep in
mind your crowd when purchasing containers and choosing how
many types of candy you’ll be offering:

•
1-50 guests: 5 jars
50-100 guests: 10 jars
100-150 guests: 15 jars
150-200 guests: 18 jars
Over 200 guests: 20 jars
Order 1/4 to 1/2 pound of candy for each guest
Maximize Cost Efficiency
When arranging your candies in their
respective containers, think in terms of
“less is more.” Buy the less expensive candy to
fill the largest jars, medium priced to fill the medium jars and save
the most expensive candies for smaller jars or jars that are small but
have a stand or stem.
Purchasing the Candy
The sky’s the limit when it comes to the kind of
candy you can use. Most candy can be bought
in bulk, which is probably your best bet if you’ll
need to accommodate a large crowd.
When purchasing candy, be sure to order it well in advance
so you have time to stage the buffet at home before the party
and purchase or order more candy if necessary.
Decorations and Jars
Set up your table in a beautiful display with
take home containers for your guests to scoop
up and select their favorite options. The take
home containers make for a unique party favor that is
high in style and low in price.
You can decorate the table or area with balloons, streamers or
vibrant tablecloths and scoops. Place ribbons around each jar with
a card attached telling guests what type of candy each jar contains.
The jars to hold the candy are important in achieving a fantastic
overall look, as well. Choose different types and sizes of jars to give
your candy buffet a lot of variety. Use apothecary jars, vases, and
even glasses. Large margarita glasses make nice additions to candy
buffets. You can find these vases at local craft stores, or just dig
around in your kitchen for a variety to keep things inexpensive.
The key here is to make sure your jars are all different sizes, shapes
and heights. You can also put boxes under the tablecloth to give
certain jars added height. This helps for visual interest.
