PATRICK BUTLER
Patrick Butler is an accomplished guitar player, whose
abilities span many musical styles. He studied jazz guitar
with jazz legends, Harry Leahey and James Spaulding. He
recorded and toured with funk band The Fatback Band,
and appears on Fatback’s single, King Tim III, considered
to be the first rap song recorded. Forming Unstoppable,
the power funk rock trio, Butler’s band was ubiquitous
on the Sunset strip. Butler recorded with Mike Watt,
indie rock bass player phenom, appearing on Watt’s Ball
Hog or Tugboat. He also appears on Banyan’s CD Anytime at All, Stephen Perkins’ acid jazz jam
band. Butler’s current projects include fronting the Celtic rock trio, Superkeltic, and jamming
“space guitar” with Dave Williams’ nu-jazz band, The Majic Bullet Theory.
MESMERIZER is the jazz debut by guitarist Patrick Butler. His self-produced release is demonstrative of Patrick's breadth as a talented composer and gifted soloist. From the hypnotic
phrasing of the title song, Mesmerizer, to the beautiful layered guitar grooves on EZFlo, Patrick's debut does not disappoint. Mesmerizer features contributions from Dave Williams,
trumpeter and co-producer, Austin Nicholsen on bass and Jarvis Walters on turntable.
