• West Fargo High School students score an average composite score
of 22.0 on the ACT. The national average is 21.2.
• The WFPS student to full time staff ratio is 13.2 to 1. Full
time staff includes classroom teachers, librarians, counselors,
school psychologists, speech pathologists, ELL teachers, reading
coordinators, special education coordinators and teachers,
technology integration coordinators, and curriculum integration
coordinators.

• At WFPS, technology for instruction is a priority. To this end,
the student to computer ratio is 3.6 students to 1 computer.
• The 2008–09 school year marks the beginning of full-day
Kindergarten for WFPS.
• In grades K–3, the average classroom size is 20.4 students.
• In grades 4 & 5, the average classroom size is 21.8 students.
• At the secondary level, the average class size is 23.3 students.
• West Fargo High School offers several Advanced Placement
(AP) and Dual Credit courses to our students. Fundamentals
of Speech, College Algebra, and Micro Economics are all
offered as dual credit courses. Sophomore Honors English,
Junior English, Senior English, Calculus, Anatomy/Human
Physiology, Biology, US History, and US Government are
all offered as AP courses. For the 2008–09 school year,
enrollment in these courses is nearly 500.

Dakota Department of Public Instruction and the North
Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Forbes ranked the Fargo Metro Area Number 4 in the Best
Smaller Metro Area category in 2005. West Fargo is home to
DMI, a world class leader in wind turbine production; Trail
King, a leading manufacturer of open deck and materials hauling
trailers; and Bobcat, a worldwide leader in the engineering,
manufacturing, and marketing of compact industrial,
construction, and agribusiness equipment.
As of December 2006, West Fargo had 6,422 single family
homes and 3,262 apartment units within the city limits. The
average cost of a new home was $178,000. Apartment
monthly rentals varied, according to size and amenities,
between $350 and $800.
Media coverage includes a weekly, community
newspaper, The West Fargo Pioneer, and a
monthly events magazine, the Fargo Moorhead
Magazine. West Fargo is also served by
a daily newspaper, The Forum, five
television networks, and many
radio stations.
Our area enjoys the variety of four seasons. The
warmest month is July with the average temperature of
80 degrees and average rainfall equaling 20.9 inches. The
coldest month is January with the average temperature of 9
degrees and average precipitation equaling 39 inches.
West Fargo is home to attractions such as Bonanzaville USA, the
Red River Valley Fairgrounds & Speedway, The Pioneer Shopping
Center, and the West Acres Mall, bringing several thousand visitors
through our community yearly.

Over 350 acres of parks provide a variety of recreation for area residents,
including eight softball fields, two baseball fields, a tennis court complex,
two soccer field complexes, and an outdoor swimming pool. Residents
also enjoy a multi-sports facility which includes a year-round walking/
jogging track, community room, summer tennis and volleyball courts,
basketball courts, and two official NHL size ice rinks in the winter months.
Additionally, there are eight public and three private golf courses in the area.
The Parks and Recreation Department also offer many varied opportunities
such as intramural sports teams, Tae Kwon Do lessons, dog obedience
training, activities for seniors, open gym, and skating lessons.
There are fourteen churches in West Fargo, serving a variety of
denominations.
West Fargo offers many choices in the way of medical, dental, and
chiropractic facilities. There is accessibility to two area hospitals with
emergency room services, a children’s hospital, several regular
clinics, and several more specialty clinics. There is also a Veteran’s
Affairs Medical Center and a VA Regional Office in the area.
Public transportation is available, including specialized and
senior transportation.
