Jenkins Announcements – Thursday, February 13, 2014
After School Art Class Begins tomorrow, Febraury 13th. Mrs. Yonker will teach a THREE
week Art Workshop on Thursdays from 3:45 pm to 5:00 pm. We will meet this coming
Thursday, February 13th, February 20th, and February 27th. All students in the class will
make a small fused glass dish. The first 15 students to sign up will be in the class. The
signup sheet is posted outside the door of Mrs. Yonker’s Art Room A170. Please only sign
up if you are sure that you can come to all THREE classes.
The answer to yesterday’s Black History Month Trivia Question was: The Tuskegee
Airmen. Yesterday’s winners were: Shylo Young and Makayla Easley. Please see Mr.
Leatham in 7th grade to claim your prize. Today’s Trivia Question is…What do the initials
NAACP stand for? Thanks for helping us celebrate Black History Month here at Jenkins!
Jenkins PTA will be selling Valentine flowers and chocolates to be delivered on Friday
February 14th. The sale will be during lunch and started Tuesday February 11th and will run
through tomorrow, February 13th. Your Valentine will be delivered on Friday the 14th
during your 7th period class. Each Valentine is $1.00.
Listen up to this announcement from your Student Council--To celebrate Valentine’s Day,
wear RED, WHITE, and Pink on Friday, but please make sure it is school appropriate attire!
Mrs. Koeser’s 6th Period Music Exploration class will meet in the 8th grade computer lab
today.
Would you like to hang out with friends and get some exercise at the same time? Come
join the after school Running Club. We meet all year long, usually on Wednesday
afternoons from 3:45-4:45 pm. We will run outside on local trails and through
neighborhoods. Everyone is welcome even if you don’t have much running
experience. So come on out and join us, get in shape for other sports or just for the fun of
running! After attending 10 times you will receive a free t-shirt! You will need to get a
permission slip from Mrs. Harper before the first run to participate. See Mrs. Harper in the
gym for a permission slip and if you have any questions.
Student Led Prayer Group meets every Thursday morning between 8:00 am and 8:30 am
in Mrs. Yonker’s Art Room A170. Please come to the red door in front of the school by the
colorful radial design in the window to enter. We would love to have you come every
Thursday, or drop in if you have a specific prayer request. We also have a prayer request
box on the wall to the left of the Art Room door. Use only first names or no name if
writing a request to respect confidentiality.
For anyone interested in volleyball…Volleyball season is just weeks away, and if you’re
interested in playing on the Jenkins team, an intramural team, or a club team, or if you just
enjoy the sport of volleyball, the Jenkins’ Volleyball coaches are offering a clinic to help get
your skills ready. This clinic will be for all grade levels and abilities on Saturday, February
22nd from 9:00 a.m. - noon. The cost of the clinic is just $10. You must register ahead of
time and space is limited, so if you’re interested, pick up a registration form from Mrs.
Currier in 7th grade or Mr. Currier in 8th grade or stop by the front office. Hurry and sign up
so you can get a head start on your volleyball preparation this year.
NJHS will meet this Friday at 7:45 am. We have a lot to do so please be prompt!
The Jenkins Forensics team competed last Saturday at their 3rd speech meet of the year
against 13 other schools. At that meet, Tyra Marlar took 1st place in Interpretation of
Humor and 4th place in Creative Storytelling. Lindsey Prose placed 3rd in Storytelling.
The Forensics team competes for the final time this year, Saturday the 22nd at LewisPalmer Middle School.
