DigitalC Launches The Learning Studios
Starting in March 2017, DigitalC's Learning
Studios provides professionals, students, and
individuals short term, non-degree courses
that focus on the professional application of
data analytic methods and tools for daily
work.
DigitalC's classes are designed to provide staff
with skills to collect, analyze, and understand
data in the shortest time possible through hands-on
learning with real data from experts and authorities
in the industry.
The initial portfolio of monthly courses include Design Thinking to support problem solving, R,
Python, Carto for Mapping, and a 10-week DataSmart Bootcamp. Courses are taught in a
classroom environment in a variety of formats: lunch & learn, 2-hour workshops, and parttime, multiple day courses. All instructors are experienced from local educational and
business institutions.
The Learning Studios empowers people to solve the community's most pressing problems
using data, and it provides a network of a growing community of data smart professionals.
Registration for March and April course are open now!
Chris Hudak, PhD, Professor & Health Informatics Concentration
Coordinator. Instructor of Record, Learning Studios DataSmart
Bootcamp shares, "Most jobs today, in health care and other fields,
require the collection, analysis and presentation of data and not everyone
has the training in their day to day work to obtain these skills. I'm excited to
be part of the Learning Studios supporting the DataSmart Bootcamp."
Ellen Shafer, Design Thinking expert and Learning Studios course
instructor shares, "Learning Design Thinking through the Experience
Innovation workshop is a refreshing and dynamic approach to problem
solving for complex problems. The process of Design Thinking is steeped
in empathy and prototyping, storyboards and 'how might we..." questions
that by the very nature of the approach lead to breakthrough ideas and
results."
University Hospitals Harrington Institute
Engages DigitalC's DataSmart Bootcamp
DigitalC kicks off the second DataSmart
Bootcamp on February 24 with The
Harrington Institute of University
Hospitals. The Bootcamp will support the
professional development of Harrington's
staff involved in the analysis, management,
and creation of data on a daily basis.
Students will learn data skills and the ability
to create simple and complex analytics for
everyday operations that relate to
healthcare.
"Putting the power of data-driven insight into
the hands of those whom can best act on it
is paramount to UH's success. With the
tools DigitalC can teach, we can help build
a broader and deeper team of data-savvy
employees to lead these activities. I am
excited to see what innovations and insights these new tools will bring to the organization,"
said John Shanahan, Manager Enterprise Data, Reporting & Analytics at
University Hospitals.
