Tobacco Plus Expo Trade Show: Registration Open
NATO Members Receive Free Registration and Free Conference Passes
The 2017 Tobacco Plus Expo Trade Show will be held on January 25-26, 2017 at the Las Vegas
Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a special promotion, the TPE Trade Show is
offering NATO members free trade show registration and also complimentary passes to all of the
educational conferences at the expo.
The 2017 Tobacco Plus Expo has been expanded over previous years to now include a
comprehensive educational conference session each day of the show—offering an excellent
learning platform and idea exchange for the industry. NATO Executive Director Thomas Briant
will give an in-depth presentation on current local, state and federal legislation and FDA
regulations plus a second session on how retailers should respond to proposed local tobacco
restrictions.
Additionally, NATO will have a headquarters booth on the TPE trade show floor, giving show
attendees an on-site doorway to take their first steps towards mobilizing and helping to change
the local, state and federal laws that will directly affect their businesses.
Tobacco Plus Expo is the largest business-to-business tobacco trade show highlighting the fullspectrum of tobacco, vapor, alternatives and general merchandise products available in the everevolving market.

Don Bores, the Visionary of NATO, Passes Away
Don Bores, the individual who saw the need for a national retail tobacco association and the
vision to help form NATO, passed away peacefully yesterday. In 2000, Don was one of the
owners of Tobacco Outlet Business Magazine and his prior experience in the tobacco industry
gave him the foresight to dream of a national association for tobacco outlet stores.
Don’s vision became a reality in 2001 when the National Association of Tobacco Outlets, now
more commonly referred to as NATO, was formed. For the past fifteen years, Don was a
stalwart supporter of NATO and he often praised others for NATO’s phenomenal growth and
success. However, without Don’s vision and foresight, NATO may never have become a reality.
Through NATO, Don’s determination to protect the right to sell and enjoy tobacco products was
put into action. In many ways, NATO is a legacy to Don’s resolve to have the retail tobacco
segment of the industry become engaged in the fight to protect individual freedoms and liberties.
NATO will continue to engage in the fight in memory of Don.
