Week #3:
Putting together the final project:

Purpose is to create and present a Powerpoint, Prezi (Prezi.com), a
interactive poster (edu.glogster.com), or another type of multimedia
presentation (other than the three mentioned above please get teachers
OK before selecting it) presentation about a twentieth century conflict.
The conflict must have a distinct perspective (side). The conflict may be
political, moral, social, or economic. It may be historic or current.

A list of possible topics to choose from can be found on page 3. You do
not have to select from this list, but if you create your own topic it must be
approved by your teacher. Parental permission is required for all topics.

This project may be done with a partner.
Basic Requirements:
1.
Powerpoint/Prezi/Interactive Poster

Must include an introductory slide and a concluding slide that does
not show bias.

A minimum of six (6) slides with a maximum of ten (10) slides.

The information will be presented in “bullet” form.

Some kind of visual (picture, graphic, etc.) must be on at least half the
slides.

Four (4) parenthetical citations must be used within the presentation.

A bibliography slide listing all sources and a second one citing all
visuals should be at the end of the presentation.

If you have a partner you will double all of the above requirements.
2. Presentation
You will present your presentation to the class. If you have a partner, each
will present their own half of the slides. Presentations will be four to eight
minutes in length. You may not just read the slides, you will explain your
information. You will be graded on your presentation – see rubric.

Week #3 cont.:
3. Content
You need to answer the following questions…
• What? Explain your topic: What is the conflict, why is it important, include
the details.
• Who? Include the people (individuals and/or groups) that are important
to your topic. Tell who they are and what role they play in the event.
• When? Be sure to include important dates, including: beginnings,
important aspects, events within the topic, and endings etc.
•
Where? Explain the location or locations where this event took place.

Why? Explain the cause or causes for this conflict to have occurred.
What should happen? – take a stand. Present a plausible position/thesis
that is clear and demonstrates an understanding of the conflict. There must
be at least three (3) factors/reasons that played a role in the cause(s) of the
conflict with one or more supportive arguments for each. What should have
been done to best resolve the conflict. Justify.

4. Style
This includes all aspects of any written assignment. Those aspects include
correct spelling and punctuation, organization, and neatness. The
presentation needs to have a recognizable introduction with a “hook” (the
thesis should be included here), a body of information (who, what, when,
where, why, etc.), and a definite conclusion that wraps up your topic with a
recap of information and a reference to your “hook” (thesis). The Power
point itself can help maintain the audience’s attention, but their needs to be
more than just technical wizardry.
