PROFESSIONAL GLOBAL LEADERSHIP
PROGRAM
The Professional Global Leadership is a one-week-intensive Program
hosted by the Escuela de Administración de Instituciones - ESDAI at
Universidad Panamericana and UR International. This program will focus
on the topics of hospitality, global leadership, and cross-cultural
communication strategies. Participants receive professional academic
instruction complemented by academic seminars, professional
observations, and cultural activities.
Program workshops include Global Competencies, Leadership at Work,
Mexican Gastronomy, and Introduction to Mexican History. Activities
include fieldtrips to various historical and cultural attractions.

UR SEMINARS
Workshop I: Travel Survival Spanish will allow participants to practice what they have learned
throughout the University of Regina’s Lunch Travel Survival Spanish lessons.
Workshop II: Leadership at Work introduces a variety of theories and strategies allowing
participants to gain tips and tools on interacting with clients by applying an empathetic approach
to their exchange.
Contents of this course include:

•Neuro-linguistic programming
•Characterology
•Communication skills
Workshop III: Mexican Gastronomy will introduce participants to the art of Mexican cuisine.
Professional instructors will provide culinary tools and techniques on how to prepare traditional
dishes in a do-it-yourself way.
Workshop IV: Introduction to Mexican History will present a general view of the different
periods and main events that the Mexican nation has experienced in order to arrive to the 21st
century, with a very important cultural background that gives Mexico its very particular
characteristics as one of the most fascinating countries of Spanish America. Participants will be
able to appreciate how a look at the past is necessary to understand the present, and possibly the
future of our countries. The main purpose of the course is intended to allow participants to
understand present day Mexico through its experiences of various past events.
Workshop V: Global Competencies will help you become more aware of your cultural background
in order to understand other cultures. Participants will gain sensitivity and analysis tools that will
help them grasp more deeply the organization, ideology and way of life of the others. “We” and
“them” will be revisited as social categories in order to adapt yourself better to your new
environment without forgetting your own values and education. Participants will also be able to
communicate, negotiate and enjoy the company of their new acquaintances, fellow students or coworkers. Remembering that the most important thing is to enjoy your experience, while being
helpful whenever you can.
UR ACCOMODATION & MEALS
During the program participants will stay at the Universidad
Panamericana Residences, in single room accommodation and shared
facilities (washrooms and common area). Each participant will have their
own room. Sheets, pillow cases and towels will be provided. Beds have to
be made each morning.
*Three meals per day are included in the program fee.
UR CULTURAL ACTIVITIES & FIELDTRIPS
During the Professional Global Leadership Certificate Program participants
will be emerged in the culture and history of Mexico. In order to make the
most of your time in Mexico City, leisure activities and events are scheduled
during evenings and weekends, including a tour of the archeological site of
Teotihuacan, the religious temple of Basilica de Guadalupe, and the
historical building of the Chapultepec Castle. Other cultural activities are
also planned throughout the program.
MEXICO CITY
The capital of Mexico, with a population of
20.84 million people, shifts into warp speed
with a fast-paced cultural landscape rich in
edgy museums, hip restaurants, and top-notch
shops.
WEATHER:
Weather in February is chilly and dry. The days
are sunny, with an average of only one day of
rain. At night there are sudden drops in
temperature.
High: 22˚C
Low: 8˚C
CURRENCY – Mexican peso is the currency used in Mexico. Currently
1 CAD=12 MXN but we advise you to check updated exchange rates
prior to your trip.
SAFETY – According to Travel Advisory of the Government of
Canada, there is no nationwide advisory in effect for Mexico. Most
major tourist areas – like Mexico City – have not been affected by the
extreme levels of violence in the northern region.
SHOPPING – Throughout the program, participants will be able to do
shopping at traditional and modern stores. If you are planning to shop
for souvenirs at traditional markets, we advise you to bring cash as
many of these stores do not accept debit/credit card payments.
Renowned and luxury brands accept credit card payments.
FOOD – Mexican food is rich in condiments and ingredients. If you
have any food allergies or you are lactose-intolerant, please let the
program coordinator know in advance to avoid any instances.
