PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM
(PREP) classes starts this Thursday, September
8th at 6:00pm. Children in Catholic Schools who
wish to receive the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation at Holy Name are also to
register for PREP. Registrations still accepted.
MISSION APPEAL AT HOLY NAME OF JESUS
PARISH next weekend September 10th/ 11th: Fr.
James Kairu (Assistant Pastor: St. Joseph’s Parish,
Langley) will be making an appeal for a project in
the Diocese of Eldoret, Kenya, in order to raise
funds and help the many orphans who face many
challenges such as drug abuse, high rates of
school dropouts, death of parents due to HIV and
AIDS, child labour, incest, molesting, early pregnancy, war, children and violence among many others. Kindly support this cause. Thank you.
2ND COLLECTION NEXT SUNDAY (September
11th) is for support of the Needy and our Refugee
Family.

CWL MEETING resumes on the third Saturday of
each month. Our next meeting is on Saturday,
September 17th, after the 9:00am Mass. All ladies
of the parish are welcome to join us.
CELEBRATION OF THE CANONIZATION MASS
OF ST. TERESA OF CALCUTTA will be in Rome
on September 4th. Also, the Missionaries of Charity
will be having Holy Mass in Her honour as follows:

September 4th, at 9:00am. Feast Day: St. Mary’s
Parish, 5251 Joyce Street, Monday, September
5th, at 10:00am, Thanksgiving Mass in the
Archdiocese at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Sunday,
October 2nd, at 2:30pm. His Excellency, Most
Reverend J. Michael Miller, CSB will be the main
celebrant on October 2nd. Also, there will be an
exhibition of St. Teresa of Calcutta, Her life and
Mission at St. John Paul II Pastoral Centre from
October 22nd—31st. Time to be advised.
THE 5th ANNUAL ARCHBISHOP’S DINNER: Join
us in celebrating the Year of Mercy and support our
expanding efforts to serve the poor and
marginalized in the community. Come and enjoy an

PRACTICING MERCY: KISSED BY MERCY,
EMBRACED BY LOVE - PARISH RETREAT:
Pope Francis announced an Extraordinary Jubilee
of Mercy. It started on the feast of the Immaculate
Conception, December 8th, 2015 and ends on the
feast of Christ the King, November 20th, 2016.
Mercy will be the focus of this parish retreat led by
Fr. Philip Chircop, SJ. Join us on Monday,
September 19th to Wednesday, September 21st,

Broken and Wounded (Monday); Acknowledging

HOLY RELICS OF SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA
TOUR: Two first-class relics of St. Anthony of
Padua will return to Canada for an eight-day tour of
the Archdiocese of Vancouver, October 5th—12th.
One reliquary contains the floating rib of Saint
Anthony and the other contains layers of the saint’s
skin. One of the two reliquaries is blessed because
of its association with Pope Francis and Suor Lucia
of Fatima, both of whom received the holy relic for a
special blessing. Schedule: October 5th – Our Lady
of Sorrows; October 6th - St. Luke’s Parish; October
7th - Our Lady of Fatima (Vancouver); October 8th Our Lady of the Assumption; October 9th - St.
