Housebound Library is a free monthly service that aims to meet the information, recreation, cultural and educational needs by bringing the service to the client. The Housebound Library service is available to residents who are no longer able to visit the Library in person due to infirmity, physical or sensory impairment or extended illness. In consultation with the client, Library staff will select appropriate library items, and dedicated volunteers will deliver books, large print books, audio books, magazines and DVDs to private “To catch the reader's attention, place an interesting sentence or quote from the story here.” homes, as well as to residential aged care facilities. We were treated to a fabulous luncheon at the HACC Centre, with catering supplied by Peter Ashcroft and his staff. The ladies really got into the spirit of the day and everyone came dressed to impress. The ladies wore fascinators where some were hand-made during a previous craft day. We really were a very stylish group where everyone wore impressive outfits but fun was the aim of the day. The late Jean Burley won the best fascinator prize while Maria Peterson won the prize for best outfit. We also had a mystery game of ‘guess the jockey’. Little did anyone know, Greg Cracknell used to be a jockey and he was kind enough to bring in an old photo from his glory days as a jockey. Of course we had a few rounds of sweeps. Congratulations to all who won, and thanks to Lyn Ward for organising the sweeps. It was great fun and wonderful to see everyone really get into the spirit of the day. Compliments flowed all afternoon on the outfits, and there was LOTS of laughter! “To catch the reader's attention, place an interesting sentence or quote from the story here.” Joan Day and Heather Mann Jean Booth Margaret Morrison, Maria Peterson and the late Jean Burley Greg Cracknell and Ken Smith 5 FORBES CRAFT GROUP ‐ 2016 CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL The Forbes Craft Group participated in the 2016 Rotary Christmas Tree Festival in splendid style last year. The Christmas Tree Festival was held at the Forbes Town Hall with the grand opening held on Friday 2nd December 2016. All money raised went to support local Rotary Ipomoea projects. The craft group ladies again joined in this wonderful community event with pride and enthusiasm. The talent these ladies have is endless! The group knitted and crocheted a variety of items to decorate our tree, which looked wonderful and added to the brilliant event at the Town Hall. “To catch the reader's attention, place an interesting sentence or quote from the story here.” 6 ry AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS Neighbourhood Central’s Aboriginal Youth and Family Worker, Rebecca Sanders, recently had the honour of being nominated for 2017 Parkes Citizen of the Year.
