The 2017, Celebrating Canada’s 150 with CARA Restaurants, sponsored by CAA (the “Contest”) is
intended only for residents of Canada, who have reached the age of majority of their province or territory
of residence at the time of entry. This Contest will be interpreted according to federal and provincial law.
CAA National (hereafter referred to as the “Sponsor”) will conduct the Contest.
1. CONTEST PERIOD:
The Contest begins on April 15, 2017 at 12:00:01 AM ET and concludes May 31, 2017 at 11:59:59 PM
ET, the Contest Closing Date (hereafter referred to as the “Contest Period”).
2. ELIGIBILITY
Employees, officers, and directors (including immediate family members and members of the same
household of such persons, including common law spouses) of CAA National (the “Sponsor”) and/or its
affiliated regional CAA motor clubs (the “CAA Clubs”) their affiliates, prize suppliers, advertising/promotion
agencies and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration, judging
or fulfillment of the Contest are not eligible to enter the Contest. Entries may be made only by the original,
manual keystrokes of the individual entrant without assistance of any kind including mechanical, form
filling, other software or robotic assistance. By participating in this Contest, you signify your agreement
that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Official Rules and
Regulations (the “Rules”).
3. HOW TO ENTER
No purchase necessary.
All eligible CAA Members who dine at any CARA Restaurant (Excluding New York Fries) in the month of
April (during the contest period) will automatically be entered into the prize draw.
Non CAA Members may also enter the Contest by writing your first name, last name, complete mailing
address including street address, city, province and postal code on a card or sheet of paper not
exceeding 8.5 X 11” and mail to CAA – Celebrating Canada’s 150 with CARA Contest, 500 – 1545
Carling Ave, Ottawa ON K1Z 8P9. You may enter as often as you wish, but each mail- in entries must be:
(i) mailed in a separate envelope, bearing sufficient postage (ii) post-marked by no later than the end of
the Contest Period; and (iii) must be received at the above address by no later than April 30, 2017. No
responsibility will be taken for mail-in entries that are delayed, lost, misdirected or damaged.
By entering this Contest, you agree to be bound by the decisions of the Contest Sponsor, which are final
and binding, without right of appeal with respect to all matters relating to the Contest.
4. PRIZES
One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded. The Grand Prize consists of a trip for two (2) to Ottawa, Ontario
and includes: roundtrip airfare (economy class) for the winner and his/her travel companion from the
Canadian International airport nearest the winner’s residence departing on Saturday, July 1, 2017 and
returning on Monday, July 3, 2017. The Grand Prize also includes two (2) night double occupancy at the
Westin Ottawa and a two hundred and fifty (250) Dollar Ultimate Dining Card.
The Grand Prize has an approximate retail value of $950 CDN. The winner is not entitled to the monetary
difference between the actual prize value and the stated approximate prize value, if any. CAA reserves
the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value without notice. Prize must be accepted as awarded
and is not transferable, or convertible to cash. Certificates may not be sold, exchanged or bartered. The
Grand Prize winner must have all necessary documentation to permit renting a vehicle. (e.g. Valid photo
identification, valid credit card in their name, and an valid driver’s license.)
All fees and expenses, other than those expressly described as being part of the prize, are the sole
responsibility of the winner.
5. NOTIFICATION AND QUALIFICATION OF SELECTED ENTRANTS
On or about June 2, 2017 (the “Draw Date”) in Ottawa, Ontario at approximately 2 pm ET, one (1) Grand
Prize eligible winner will be selected by random draw from among all eligible Entries received during the
Contest Period. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Entries received throughout the
Contest Period.
In order to be declared a winner by the Contest judges, the potential winner must be in compliance with
these Official Contest Rules and Regulations and, in particular, the following: selected entrant must first
correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question. Eligible Prize Winner and
his/her guest will be notified by email and/or telephone and will be required to sign and return a
declaration of eligibility and a liability/publicity release pursuant to which the Prize Winner and his/her
guest releases the Sponsor, its affiliated and related companies, advertising and promotional agencies,
the independent contest organization and their respective shareholders, directors, officers, owners,
partners, dealers, employees, agents successors and assigns (the “Releasees”)from and against all
liability in connection with the Promotion and the awarding and use or misuse of the Prize and consents
to the use of his/her name, address (city and province) voice, statements and/or photographs, without
further remuneration, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor within
ten (10) business days of notification. If the selected prize winner cannot be contacted by mail, email or
telephone or fails to correctly answer the skill testing question or fails to return the Contest documents
within the specified time, he/she will forfeit their prize and an alternate winner will be randomly selected
without any liability to original potential prize winner to Sponsor whatsoever.
6. GENERAL
All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or
do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the official Contest rules and regulations may be disqualified
by the Sponsor. Sponsor will not be responsible for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or
destroyed entries, or for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines,
computer online systems or servers, computer software problems or traffic congestion on the internet or
at any website and assumes no liability for damage to entrant's or any person's computer resulting from
participating in the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or
advertising this Contest. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. All
entries made by robotic or other automated means will be disqualified.
By entering this Contest, entrants release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliated companies,
advertising and promotional agencies and the Contest judge(s), and their respective directors, officers,
owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the
“Releasees”) from any liability in connection with this Contest or, if declared a winner, the prize. By
accepting a prize, winners consent to the use of their name, place of residence, voice, statements,
photographs or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes in any medium or
format without further compensation or notice.
This Contest will be run in accordance with these Official Contest rules and regulations, subject to
amendment by Sponsor. Contest entrants must comply with these rules, and will be deemed to have
received and understood the rules by participating in the Contest. The terms of this Contest, as set out in
these rules, are not subject to amendment or counter-offer, except as set out herein.
If the identity of an entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at
the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the
domain associated with the submitted e-mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A
selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt
of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest’ server machine(s).
The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des
jeux (the “Régie”) in Quebec, to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in
any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized
intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that
interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules. Any attempt to
deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as
determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws and
should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the
fullest extent permitted by law. The Sponsor, with the consent of the Régie, reserves the right to cancel,
amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, without prior notice or obligation, in the event
of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason.
For Quebec residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be
submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the
awarding of the prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a
settlement.
By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or
representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her Entry only for
the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at:
http://www.caa.ca/privacy), unless the entrant otherwise agrees.
The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, and without prior notice, to adjust any
of the dates and/or timeframes stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of
verifying compliance by any Member, Non-Member, Registration and/or Entry with these Rules, or as a
result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the
Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as
contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason.
The eligible Prize Winner agrees to cooperate in any investigations by or on behalf of Sponsor to confirm
their eligibility and to help ensure that the use of any such potential winner and/or their photo in
advertising or publicity for the Contest will not bring the Sponsor into public disrepute, contempt, scandal
or ridicule or reflect unfavourably on the Contest or the Sponsor as determined by the Sponsor in its sole
discretion.
