A letter from Keiko, a Japanese student,
to her friend, Melissa, who lives in Australia.
Dear Melissa
How are You? It’s hot in Australia every day now, isn’t it? In Japan it’s very cold.
Since the beginning of January, there’s been a lot of snow. Last month, before Christmas it was very
warm so I often went out walking or went shopping, but lately I’ve been at home watching the TV
every day. I don’t really like watching TV, but yesterday I ended up watching for about 6 hours.
That’s dreadful, isn’t it?
Last week, my elder sister, who works in Tokyo, came home. Every day, she does the washing and the
cleaning so I don’t ever have to do any of the housework. And she’s also doing the cooking for us.
She used to be a hopeless cook, but now she’s really good at it. So every day I’m eating delicious
food and not doing anything and I have probably got a bit fat. I’d better do some exercise, don’t you
think?
You said you were going to Queensland next month. Take lots of photos to send to me, won’t you?
I’ll write again soon.
