27 July 2016 Letter shares important election information with voters AROUND 54,000 letters from the Northern Territory Electoral Commission (NTEC) containing information about the 2016 Territory election are on their way to voting Territorians. The letters addressed to ‘the voter’ and posted in a bright yellow envelope have been lodged with Australia Post today and Territorians will start receiving them over the next week or so, NT Electoral Commissioner Iain Loganathan said. “The letter provides an important reminder to Territorians they need to ensure they are correctly enrolled for their current address before the electoral roll closes on Wednesday 10 August. “Enrolling to vote or updating details is easy and can be done online in a few minutes by going to ntec.nt.gov.au. “Recent electoral changes mean any voter now can choose to early vote and early voting centres are open from 15 August. “An explanation of the optional preferential voting system that will be used at this election, is also included in the letter,” he said. The letter is going to households with a deliverable mail address where someone is enrolled and forms part of the NTEC’s voter information campaign. All information on early voting, optional preferential voting or any other matter relating to the 2016 Territory election is available at ntec.nt.gov.au or by calling 1800 698 683 or by emailing your query to [email protected] - END - Attachment: OPV information – voters’ letter 270716 MEDIA CONTACT: Suzanne Gulikers | Manager, Public Awareness | PH: 08 8999 7635 NT ELECTORAL COMMISSION Level 3 | TCG Centre| 80 Mitchell St GPO Box 2419 | Darwin NT 0801 PH: 08 8999 5000 MYVOTE CENTRAL Yeperenye Centre | Hartley St PO Box 2304 | Alice Springs NT 0871 PH: 08 8951 5971 Fax: 08 8999 7630 Fax: 08 8953 6727 ABN: 84 085 734 992 Website: ntec.nt.gov.au Email: [email protected] facebook.com/NTElectoralCommission @ntElecComm
