Timeless Tunes - Alzheimer`s Association

Florida Gulf Coast Chapter
Giving MP3 players to people with dementia.
Timeless Tunes is a music project through the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in
partnership with Rotary District 6890. Timeless Tunes offers a MP3 player (preloaded with digital radio station
music), headphones and charger to people with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia living within the
AAFGCC service area.
MP3 players have a selection of songs from one type or genre of music. We currently have nine genres available.
The type of music is based upon the person with dementia’s preference.
Facilities are being provided a Timeless Tunes Group Kit (See table for details) so that people with dementia living
within the facility can listen to music.

Rotarians Role: Deliver Timeless Tunes to staff / contact
person on form.
On a pre-set day / time, Rotarians pick up group kits from one of
the offices of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s
Association (AAFGCC).
Next, deliver the group kit(s) within one week. Best times to
deliver are between 9 – 11:00 a.m., and 2 – 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Go to the front desk. Ask to see the contact
person. If the contact person is not available, it is okay to leave the
kit at the front desk. Ideally you want the kit to go to the person in
charge of activities and recreation.
After delivery is made, fax or email and scan a confirmation to
AAFGCC. That is, send a copy of the Timeless Tunes Facility
Group Kit form with the date of delivery filled out to Stefanie
Thompson fax: 863.292.9603 / email: [email protected].
Note: Interactions with people with dementia (and people living within the facility) are not approved by the
Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. This is because the State of Florida requires background
screenings on these interactions and this is beyond the scope and ability of this project. However, you can develop
relationships with the facility and work with them to volunteer more time. Volunteer time would then be between
you and the facility.
If you have any concerns, issues, or questions please call 863.292.9210.
