Fourteen years ago, an eight-year old Montlake neighborhood boy hosted a lemonade stand to raise money to support the “clinic down the street”, Boyer Children’s Clinic. What started as a humble childhood project became an annual neighborhood tradition that has raised more than $24,000 over the years, and has made a tremendous impact for the children and families served at Boyer. You too can make a difference, and carry on the Boyer Lemonade Stand tradition, one cup at a time! It’s easy, fun, and a great opportunity to introduce philanthropy to the children in your life. A variety of tools are available to help you with your individual fundraising event. Please follow these simple steps to hosting your own Boyer lemonade stand anytime during the month of August. Getting Started Register your Boyer Lemonade Stand online with us at www.boyercc.org, or email [email protected] by July 18th. Pick up your free Boyer Lemonade Stand Kit Tuesday, July 29th between 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Boyer Family Picnic. For alternate arrangements, please email [email protected]. Kit materials are also available online to download and print: www.boyercc.org. Set a fundraising goal. Before you hold your fundraising event, set a goal for how much money you would like to raise. Remember – no amount is too big or too small. Use the Goal Poster to update supporters of your progress throughout the day. Location, Location, Location: Determine the best location for you and your family. High traffic areas are always good for “business”, but please remember safety is a priority at all times. Night Out in Seattle is Tuesday, August 5th. Why not get your entire neighborhood involved and host your lemonade stand at your block party? Get Creative: Make your event stand out by including multiple ways for people to donate. Offer a variety of refreshments: bottled water, baked goods, fresh sliced watermelon, or doggie treats and water bowl, etc. Host a garage sale along with your lemonade stand. Sell raffle tickets and award one lucky donor with a special prize. Set up a sprinkler in the front yard as another fun activity for kids visiting your stand. Spread the word: Use Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, neighborhood blogs and email are great tools to notify people near and far about your lemonade stand and fundraising efforts. Post a message a few days before your event and on the morning of your lemonade stand. *Be sure to send a link to Boyer’s website so your family and friends can donate even if they can’t make it to your stand. Create signs and display them around your neighborhood at schools, parks, local businesses, libraries and community centers a few days before your lemonade stand. Drop flyers on your neighbors’ doorsteps the day before your event. (Hint: Use the Advertisement Flyer Poster from the Kit provided.) Use sidewalk chalk art on every corner of your block to direct foot traffic to your lemonade stand – FUN! Honor a Boyer child at your stand. Place a framed picture of your honoree at your lemonade stand! This is a great conversation starter, and an opportunity to explain why supporting Boyer Children's Clinic is important to you. Ask friends, family, and neighbors to help out at your stand! Many hands make light work, and with all your promotions you’ve been doing, you will very likely be glad to have a few helpers. Supplies. Here are some essentials we suggest you have on hand: o Table o Tablecloth and decorations o Container for donations o Cups o Napkins/paper plates/paper towels o Ice o Cooler o Containers to hold an mix lemonade o Mixing Spoon o Lemonade o Camera: please take pictures of your event and share with us at Boyer! We suggest that instead of putting a price on each cup of lemonade, simply ask your customers to make a donation. Be sure to let your supporters know that you can accept checks and cash, and that online donations can be made at www.boyercc.org. Checks should be made payable to “Boyer Children’s Clinic”. Please display the “Checks Payable” sign included in your kit (also available online to print). Please note that all donations to Boyer Children's Clinic are tax-deductible. Parents! Why not encourage your child’s fundraising efforts even further by matching his or her total lemonade stand earnings? If your employer has a charitable giving program, double your donation again with a company match! Submit your Proceeds After your stand, send in your donations. Cash donations received at your stand should be transferred to a personal check, money order or bank check. You'll receive a return envelope and Donation Sheet in your fundraising kit (also available online).
