QUICK TURNAROUND AND QUALITY PROCESS DESIGN UAL T EP NC O C Fully Customizable Modeling Solutions Conceptual Design: During this phase, the group supports clients by collecting, assessing and evaluating power system data to execute highly specialized studies and devise the optimal plan of action customized to clients’ needs. Detailed Design: Design studies are conducted as critical input to the technical specifications, procurement and detailed design phases to define the equipment parameters and ensure the compliance to client requirements. Technical Advisory Support: The flawless execution of a working power system requires continued technical advisory support to ensure consistent and precise delivery. All project service packages (Engineering Services, EPCM, EPC, OE) can be tailored to your precise project requirements. KEY PROJECTS Western Alberta Transmission Line HVDC U.S. Transmission Planning Mandates Canada Full EPC services for two 1000 MW, 500 kV monopole HVDC converter stations and lines (with STATCOM at one side), and provisions for future expansion to a third terminal. Services included project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, energization, as well as the detailed review of the vendor studies and user-written models. United States Several mandates for system planning in California ISO (CAISO), Mid Continent ISO (MISO), Southwest Power Pool (SPP), New York ISO (NYISO), and PJM including project interconnection and opportunity analysis, FERC 1000 project proposals, due diligence, and creation and evaluation of a joint interregional model. BC Hydro System Impact Studies Dogtown Rd Static Var Compensator (SVC) Canada Impact Assessment and Feasibility Studies for IPP and Load Interconnections, with 47 feasibility studies carried out. SNC-Lavalin assessed the interconnection of new generation and loads to the BC Hydro network and provided estimates of reinforcements. Studies included load flow, short-circuit, transient stability analysis, Control and Protection, Telecom/SCADA, qualitative analysis and order of magnitude cost estimate. United States Owner’s Engineering services for SVC facility required for the interconnection of a wind farm on the ISO-NE network. SNC-Lavalin provided subject matter expertise, including review of vendor technical documentation, system design, drawings, operation manuals, and PSS®E and PSCAD software models. SNC-Lavalin oversaw the control system RTDS testing, major equipment factory testing, as well as the on-site commissioning. Lower Churchill HVDC Project Central Asia South Asia Regional study Canada Integration of the 900 MW, ± 350 kV HVDC system into the Newfoundland and Labrador network. Services provided included transmission planning, system impact studies, reactive power study, harmonic study, HVDC technology, DC voltage level and DC conductor selection, HVDC Design studies, HVDC technical specifications, bid evaluation and negotiation support. Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, and Afghanistan South Asia Regional electricity market feasibility study, including assessment of resources, demand, generation and transmission options, as well as line routing, economic analysis, and social and environmental impact assessment. AESO Wind Interconnection Studies EAPP Regional Master Plan Canada The project comprised of system studies to identify network limitations and operative mitigation strategies to interconnect several wind farms in Southern Alberta. Studies included load flow, short-circuit, transient stability, and transfer analysis, as well as SVC functional specifications. Eastern Africa Power Pool Up to 2038 for Rwanda, Uganda, DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Djibouti, Tanzania, Burundi and Egypt. Services provided included load forecast, generation plan, grid code, transmission plan, as well as client trainings and workshops. Egypt-Saudi Multi-Terminal HVDC Gulf Cooperation Council Regional Project Egypt and Saudi Arabia Integration of HVDC multi-terminal converters (± 500 kV, 3000 MW HVDC) into the Egyptian and Saudi networks. Studies conducted included Load flow, transient stability, voltage stability, fault levels, insulation coordination, harmonic impedance, reactive power management, and conceptual design of converters. Bahrain, UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar Including system and design studies, feasibility studies, technical specifications, bid evaluation and supervision of works. The project consisted of a 400 kV double-circuit line from Kuwait to UAE with tap-offs to Bahrain (submarine cable), Qatar and Saudi Arabia (back-to-back HVDC converter), and 220 kV interconnection between UAE and Oman.
