Except for Basic Knitting classes, the class fees are paid in advance to reserve your spot in class. One week‟s notice is required to receive a refund or transfer (three weeks for weaving classes). We will call you if we must cancel a class, and a refund will be given. Our classes are designed to assist you in the use of yarns and other materials purchased at our store. Although some materials are included in some classes, most materials are extra and must be purchased at our store. Yarns purchased at other stores should be used in that store‟s classes. Store models will be available to help illustrate the goal of the class. Ask if you‟re not sure that a class is right for you, or whether you have the skill level required to be successful in a class. Please register as far in advance of a class or workshop as possible. It makes our lives a little easier in making preparations for teaching, so that we will have adequate supplies and handouts! These strips of silk are gorgeous and all unique. For this class, you will need to purchase the small bowl frame and a skein of sari silk at Threadbender. You may also purchase or bring with you some coordinating yarn, scissors, a big-eyed yarn needle. If you have clothespins, bring those as well. You will have a finished silk bowl by the end of class. Marcia Skinner Weave-A-Blanket Wed, Nov 27 thru Fri, Jan 3, *two days-by appointment We have brought back the weave-a-projects!! We will warp a loom with enough for many blankets to be woven in double weave, and you schedule with us in advance two consecutive days where you come in and weave a blanket yourself. The warp will be a mix of wools, bouclés, and some novelties peeking out here and there. *The blanket fee does not include the cost of your weft, which you can purchase at our store in advance or on your first day of weaving. Previous weaving experience is a must, as this is not a typical class with a teacher available the entire time. When you register, let us know if you need instruction, which is available on an hourly basis at $25/hour with Juliane Anderson. Finished dimensions of each blanket will be approximately 65” x 65”. The cost of the warp along with the information on and photos of what yarns we are using will be available by the end of September. Choose from sheep, rabbits, bears, chickens, pigs, buffalo, and shetland ponies. No water is needed to felt these adorable wooly creatures. Each kit contains enough material to make two animals and two felting needles. The animal kits are to be purchased separately in the store, but we will provide felting foam for you to use in class. Juliane Anderson Introduction to Colorwork – Fair Isle Holiday Stocking Sat, Oct 26, 1:30p-4:30p, $35 or Sat, Nov 16, 1:30p-4:30p, $35 Learn the technique of Fair Isle Knitting as you knit a practice sampler in 3 colors, which can be finished as a holiday stocking. The pattern will be given to students - see sampler in the store. We will discuss various ways of working with multiple yarns and how to read a chart. You must know how to knit with double pointed needles or use the magic-loop technique. You will need 3 colors of worsted weight wool or wool-blend yarn and size 7, 8, or 9 wood or bamboo double point needles. Pick up homework when you sign up. You must be able to knit a sock successfully or have taken Socks 101 to register for this class. Freeform Knitting Sat, Oct 19, 10:00a-2:00p, $45 Ever wanted to break all the rules? Think „outside the skein‟ and build an original, one-ofa-kind fabric. This technique will challenge the limits of your fiber imagination. There will be nothing orderly or controlled about your work, but your fabric will be most interesting and a joy to create. Bring an open mind. This is a “NO RULES” kind of knitting. The more experience you bring, the more skills you will be able to draw upon when you freeform, as we inspire and guide you. We will take a break around noon, and you may want to bring a snack to keep your strength up. Also, bring some worsted or finer yarn and size 7 or 8 or appropriate size needles. We will incorporate simple knitting techniques with your choice of color and surface design (log cabin, stripes, and squares).
