ST JOHN’S, A MERCHANT TAYLORS’ SCHOOL Outstanding 2017 13+ Senior School Transfer Results for St John’s Boys We are extremely pleased and proud to report that all thirty two of our Year 8 boys have performed exceptionally well in the recent transfer examinations to senior schools and, as a result, have been offered a school of their choice for September 2017. The boys have achieved some outstanding results with a total of twentyone scholarships. Of these, nine boys have achieved ten academic scholarships and seven achieved eleven awards in Music, Drama, Art, Design and Technology and Sport. Twelve of them have been offered places at more than one school. I have listed below the places offered: School Offered Merchant Taylors’ 23 Berkhamsted 10 Haberdashers’ 4 Aldenham 3 John Lyon 3 City of London 1 Harrow 1 Mill Hill 1 St Alban’s 1 UCS 1 (NB: Michael Ohio-Ezomo is sitting Common Entrance for Eton in May and June 2017) Two boys have been awarded Major Scholarships from Merchant Taylors’. The Hailey Scholarship for academic ability especially in Humanities has been awarded to James Watson. He achieved four A* and two A grades in the six entrance papers. James has also been awarded an Art Scholarship from Merchant Taylors’ underlining his all-round talents. Marcus Burns was awarded the Murray Scholarship from Merchant Taylors’, recognising his all-round academic ability and potential in classics. Marcus achieved four A*s and two As. Danial Sayani, Harjeevan Sandhu and Maxim Vassiliev all achieved Major Academic Scholarships from Haberdashers’. Ben Macdonald was awarded an Academic Scholarship from UCS, Kyri Matsangos was awarded an Academic Scholarship from John Lyon and Guilherme Carruthers Hintze, Danial Sayani and Jude Collings received academic awards from Merchant Taylors’. Daniel Odejinmi, St John’s Head Boy, has been awarded the Mulcaster Scholarship for all-round talent from Merchant Taylors’. Daniel achieved two A*s and three As in the Merchant Taylors’ papers. This talented individual also received Music Scholarships from Merchant Taylors’, Haberdashers’ and St Alban’s. Harry Bridgewater achieved a Music Scholarship at Merchant Taylors’. Zev Stonefield received a Music Exhibition from Merchant Taylors’ who also awarded Thomas Lemon with a Design and Technology Scholarship and Rohan Dasgupta with a Drama Scholarship. Matthew Crow achieved Sports Scholarships at both Merchant Taylors’ and Mill Hill. The 21 scholarships achieved for 2017 13+ are overleaf.
