Graduate Diploma in Education
I arrived in Perth after travelling around Australia in 2000 and decided to
stay. The idea was to play football with Subiaco and also to attend UWA
to gain my Graduate Diploma in Education, following a Science degree
with Honours from Adelaide University.
Everyone in Perth and especially at UWA was fantastic throughout my
year of study, providing me with valuable assistance. My plan was to
remain in WA but on completion of my GradDipEd I was offered a job at
Pembroke College, a private school in Adelaide, which I took with eager
anticipation.
I am now in my fifth year of teaching senior Biology at Pembroke where
I also hold a Head of House position. I retired from playing football three
years ago and now work as an ABC commentator for SANFL football.
I thoroughly enjoy the teaching lifestyle. It has allowed me to travel
comprehensively, including two months last summer in Central and
South America where I surfed in Mexico, hiked in Peru and canoed part
of the Amazon Basin in Bolivia.
