involve perception, art, science, and technology. Installations and event venues have included the
Guggenheim Museum (New York), Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum (NY), Museum of
Science and Industry (Chicago), Headlands Center for the Arts (Marin, CA), and the Notebaert
Nature Museum (Chicago).

(i) Served as scientific lead on development of extremophile research multimedia web exhibit
(http://www.exploratorium.edu/kamchatka/index.html) which was featured in Science (9/29/06)
and is the recipient (5/07) of a national award from the American Association of Museums.
Continuing to collaborate on developing outreach materials related to Kamchatka and Lassen
Volcanic National Park. (ii) Introduced stable isotope analyses of plant carbon and nitrogen as a
tool for tracing the influence of anthropogenic CO2 and regional nitrogen deposition in the S.F.
Bay Area through public outreach division.

Experience in Research for Teachers) program at UMBI. Worked with teachers to
develop inquiry based learning curricula on (a) estuarine mixing and thermohaline
