journal and follow the color marking instructions on the “Journal Guidelines” document for how to

10/25: Ch. 15-20 Commentary: How does Twain use satire in chapters 17-18? What is the purpose and how
does the satire work? (2-3 pages)

10/27: Ch. 26-27 Color Marking- Print Passage B and color mark. Tape or glue your color marking in your

10/31: Ch. 30-31 Notes & Quotes- Tone: Find 5 interesting quotes & analyze their significance. At least 2
quotes must convey Twain’s tone. (2 pages)

11/2: Ch. 34-35: Commentary: free choice! Choose an idea & technique and go! (2-3 pages)
11/3: Ch. 36-37
11/4: Ch. 38-39 Reader Response: Consider the purpose of the final episode of Jim’s captivity. Some
criticize this section as unnecessary. What do you think? (1 page)
11/7: Finish the novel!
