This includes labeling and coloring a drawing of a plant and animal cell along with reading to figure out the functions for each part of the cell. Due to a PBIS assembly, science MAP testing, and Grandparents Day I was not able to assign the cell project to the students yet. I plan on introducing the project on Friday, October 2. The project will be due the following Friday (10/9). Students will receive a handout and rubric for the project. Language Arts 7th grade handed in their personal narratives this week, and during class time we worked through a unit on nouns. We will wrap up nouns next week with a quiz on Thursday, October 8. After nouns, we will move on and start a descriptive writing unit, building on the skills from our personal narrative unit. Reading This week 7th grade students have worked on their anticipation guide for the novel Peak . They had to agree or disagree with a statement and give evidence for and against that statement. They also took notes on plot and different types of conflict and they will be looking for some examples of different types of conflict. Social Studies While studying early civilizations in the region of the world known as The Fertile Crescent, students researched the famous characters of Gilgamesh, a Sumerian legendary hero, and Sargon 1, a great Akkadian emperor. They used chromebooks to look up these people and read about them. They shared what they learned in classroom discussions. Religion Math Prealgebra: We finished Chapter 1 and have begun Chapter 2. We will be doing a project with this particular chapter: your student is going to make a business plan. They have been tasked with coming up with a service business that is realistic for our community. There will be various assignments throughout the chapter to help them make this business plan. Have them share with you as they are all excited to do this. Algebra: Progress continues on Chapter 1. They will finish the week with a midchapter quiz. Have a blessed weekend!
