April 27, 2017 Dear Graduating Senior and Parent: The last days of high school are quickly coming to a close. As we near the end of the year, please be respectful to our Divine Child community, our school building as well as to your parents. You have spent many years getting to this point, and your academic persistence and commitment to great behavior all the way up to the final school day and through graduation is an outstanding way to honor the sacrifices your parents have made to ensure your success. Parents, please be sure that your student is attending the final days of school. These last few days in school are very important. Seniors need to focus all the way to the end of the year. Here is the rundown for the last few weeks of school: SENIOR LAST DAY & LOCKER CLEAN OUT: Thursday, May 11 Seniors have earned Friday, May 12 off for winning the Spirit Games! SENIOR EXAMS: Monday, May 15-Wednesday, May, 17 Seniors are expected to be present for exams unless they are exempt from a particular exam. Report to school on exam days only during scheduled exam times. Since the rest of the school will be in session, please quietly remain in the atrium until your exam begins. Normal out of uniform (jeans day) guidelines apply. No shorts, tank tops, yoga pants or other inappropriate tops are permitted. Senior Exam Schedule ● Monday, May 15: ○ Economics (8-9:05) & Theology (9:10-10:15) ■ All Students will report to the auditorium for May Crowning after the Theology test ■ Seniors are expected to be in academic attire (see guidelines below) on this day for May Crowning ● Tuesday, May 16: Sciences, World Languages & Government ● Wednesday, May 17: Math, English & Electives General Exam Info ● Seniors will come in each day just for the exam they have. ● Exams will run in 3 time slots each day: 8:00-9:05, 9:10-10:15, 10:20-11:25. ● More specifics about room numbers and time slots per exams TBA ● More information about Elective Exams TBA. ● Seniors must take exams to participate in graduation, unless they are exempt from an exam. ● Lockers must be cleaned out and checked by Mr. Courage or Mrs. Spearman. ● Exam week - used books can be returned to the bookstore. ALUMNI/LEGACY PHOTO & MAY CROWNING: Monday, May 15: All seniors must attend May Crowning. Academic attire is required. ● Ladies: ○ Dress/Dress top with skirt (knee-length) ○ Dress shoes. NO FLIP FLOPS, NO HEELS HIGHER THAN 2 INCHES ● Gentlemen: ○ Light colored shirt and tie ○ Dress slacks ○ Dress shoes with socks ○ No jeans or cargo pants ○ Clean shaven ● Seniors will wear their gowns during the May Crowning Service. ● Seniors can hang their gowns on their lockers - please bring a hanger Schedule: Modified F (Liturgy Schedule) This schedule is for 9-11 graders. ● 1 7:40-8:23 ● 2 8:23-9:06 ● 3 9:06-9:50 ● 4A 9:50-10:20 **10:15--Alumni/Senior Legacy Photos with Parents - see below ● 4B 10:20-10:50 ● 4C 10:50-11:20 ● Prayer Service 11:30-12:30 ○ Grades 9,10 and 11 report to 5th hour to be called over to church. ○ Grade 12 will be lining up to process over to church. ○ Seniors will be dismissed after the service. ● 5 12:30-1:10 ● 6 1:10-1:50 ● 7 1:50-2:30 Senior Schedule for the May Crowning Day: ● 8:00-9:05 - Economics Exam ● 9:10-10:15 - Theology Exams ● 10:15 - 10:50 ○ Senior Legacy, May Crowning, Val-Sal, Falcon Scholar Photos (see below) ○ All other seniors report to cafeteria for lunch or auditorium ● 11:00: Seniors report to the auditorium for line up & procession. Legacy Photo: Parents that are alumni of DCHS are asked to meet in the foyer of the high school at 10:15 am for a group photo with their graduating senior. May Crowning Court Photos Falcon Scholars Photos Val-Sal Photos Photos from 10:15-11 am SENIOR CEDAR POINT TRIP: Thursday, May 18 ● Check in: Cafeteria by 7:15 am ● Bus leaves DCHS at 7:30 am ● Check the weather and plan accordingly (raincoat/sunscreen/etc) ● Bring money for lunch ● Bus departs Cedar Point between 6-6:30 pm & arrives back around 9:00 pm ● Contact Mrs. Kirsch ([email protected]) if you have questions ● Don’t forget to turn in all permission slips and medical release forms SENIOR BREAKFAST & REHEARSAL: Friday, May 19 7:30 am: Senior Breakfast & Graduation Rehearsal: ● All Students must attend ● Begins at 7:30am ● Rehearsal will end at roughly 11:30 am ● You must be dressed appropriately for church ● No jeans, shorts, cargo pants, inappropriate tops, tennis shoes ○ Gentlemen must be clean shaven; No earrings ○ Ladies may wear earrings; no facial piercings, no heels higher than 2 inches ● Graduation Tickets will be distributed (5 per family) - see information below Approx. 11:30 am: Rehearsal ends Monsignors Weier and Kucyk Talent Show: Friday, May 19 - 7:00p ● Seniors receive two free tickets ● $5 entrance fee for others GRADUATION TICKET INFORMATION: ● Friday, May 19: Students will receive them after the rehearsal. ● Admission to the Graduation Mass and Commencement is by ticket only. ● Each graduating senior will receive five (5) tickets (see above). ● Lost tickets cannot be replaced. ● Seating begins at 3:00pm – no earlier. ● Only the front doors of the church will be opened. ● Students with outstanding tuition, detentions, Christian Service Hours, etc will not be able to pick up their graduation tickets. ● Handicap Tickets ○ If handicapped seating is required, you must inform Mr. Haley and/or Mrs. Blicharz on or before rehearsal. Limited seating is available for wheelchair bound guests only. If an escort is required, their name as well as the name of the person in the wheelchair must be on a list and a ticket is required. Tickets can be stamped in two ways: ■ PRE-Stamped: please email Mr. Haley & Mrs. Blicharz and we will PRE-Stamp the family member’s ticket before we distribute them ■ In person: You can request that Mrs. Blicharz stamp the family member’s ticket in the Main Office when you pick up your tickets ■ Handicap Stamps will not be granted the day of Graduation ○ Handicap entrance is allowed with one additional ticket if an escort is required; you may escort the guest to the Handicap seating area and then proceed to your seat in the general assembly. This will grant early access to the Church for this family member only. SUNDAY, MAY 21 Graduation Day: Student arrival, 2:20 pm, Mass begins at 3:30 pm The Administration of Divine Child High School reserves the right to deny a senior participation in graduation exercises, even on the day of graduation, if that student chooses to exhibit disrespectful, uncooperative or inappropriate behavior or is in violation of school policy. The school will be satisfied to mail diplomas if it becomes necessary. The Administration will not hesitate to prosecute students who are involved in vandalism. Do not jeopardize this once-in-a-lifetime experience through some careless or foolish act. Graduation day should be a day for family pride and celebration; please conduct yourself with dignity. Please note the order of procession: Faculty, Senior Class Officers, Student Council Executive Board Seniors, Valedictorian, Salutatorian, all student graduates. Attire for Gentlemen: ● Black or blue dress pants ● Dress shoes and dark socks ● A white shirt and a tie ● Each gentleman is expected to be clean-shaven ● No earrings or facial piercing ● Be sure your hair is cut (above the ears, eyebrows and collar) and is neat and conservative ● Sideburns are not to extend below the ear Attire for Ladies: ● A light colored dress is required ● Dress shoes; NO FLIP FLOPS, NO HEELS HIGHER THAN 2 INCHES ● Earrings are allowed; no facial piercing GRADUATION MASS AND COMMENCEMENT TIMELINE: Sunday, May 21 2:20 pm: Students arrive and proceed to the Auditorium - BE ON TIME ● Enter through the South Parking Lot doors ● Students report to the auditorium to pick up their name cards & any other items necessary for the ceremony ● NHS members please bring your stoles ● Honor Roll students, please bring the gold tassel that you received at the Honors Convocation 3:00 pm: Students assemble in order in the foyer to process 3:10 pm: Procession to the Church 3:30-4:30 pm: Mass 4:30-5:30 pm: Commencement Exercise Post Graduation 5:30 pm: After Commencement Exercise ● Students process out and report back to the school. ● Students pick up their graduation packet from the stations in the main hallway by alphabet ● The Graduation Packet includes ○ Diploma ○ Composite picture ○ Your permanent education file ○ A senior gift from Mr. Haley ○ If your report card is not in your packet, it will be mailed to you 9:30 pm-4:30/5 am: PSO Sponsored Senior Lock-In: Enjoy and Congratulations ● Permission slips must be turned into the Main Office in order to attend ● See permission slip and description for guidelines and timelines FINAL REMINDERS ● Check your last quarter grades with every teacher. ● If you have failed a required course, you will not receive your diploma until the high school has been notified that you successfully completed the course through an approved credit recovery program. See your counselor to set up credit recovery. ● All tuition must be paid in full in order to have your final transcript mailed to your college ● Order Forms for Senior Video/Graduation DVD will also be available in the graduation packet. You can also access it by clicking here ● Professional proofs of your student receiving the diploma will be sent directly to your home with the order forms. ● The Falcons Nest is selling graduation balloons.
