All pupils are encouraged to take an active and creative part in lessons through memory games, songs, pair, group and team work. The children develop language skills by discussing similarities and, differences and making links with other languages they already know. ¿Qué vamos a aprender? (What are we going to learn?) Year 6 Year 6: At Key Stage 1 pupils will be responding to the language and speaking with support. In Key Stage 2 pupils will also be taking part in questions and answers, role-playing, reading and writing words in French or Spanish. Why not encourage your child to teach you some of the words, phrases and songs he or she already knows? This half term we will revise opinions and link them to different sports. We will look at more irregular verbs and discuss their conjugation. Early Years Year 4 Our challenge this half term will be to write independently in paragraphs (mostly from memory) using the correct part of the verb and extending phrases using conjunctions. Year 5 we will continue to work on physical description and add structures about personalities. Qu’est-ce qu’on va apprendre? Nursery: We will be extending our numbers to 6 revising and adding to our colours. This half term our topic is mini beasts so we will learn some of their names in French. We will use directions to follow routes on a plan and create our own mini plays for asking directions. We will link this knowledge to our current topic in order to describe a famous person. Our grammar focus will continue to st nd rd be using verbs in the 1 , 2 and 3 person. Year 1 Year 3 &2 In Year 3 will use our numbers 1 – 31 with confidence so that we can say the date in French. We will discuss and compare important dates in France and England. Our challenge will be to ask each other and answer questions using a questionnaire about birthdays. Year 5 Reception: The members of the family will be our focus. We will learn how to make clues to help us remember and listen to a story about a family. We will also learn the days of the week in order to say the date in French everyday Year 2: We will learn how to say the days of the week, so we can say the date everyday in English and French in class. We will also have fun learning the parts of the body and design and describe monsters in French.
