UPMC SPORTS MEDICINE CONCUSSION PROGRAM
The UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, established in 2000, is the first of its kind and largest
ongoing clinical service and research program that focuses on the diagnosis, evaluation, and management
of sports-related concussion in athletes of all levels. Led by Michael Collins, PhD, the program’s
internationally-known team of clinicians and researchers are world leaders in studying the neurocognitive
effects of sports-related concussion and pioneering the development of better methods of post-concussion
evaluation to determine when it is safe for an athlete to return to sports. The team provides oversight and
consultation to assist sports teams’ medical staff in making objective return-to-play decisions after the
occurrence of sports-related concussion.
DEPARTMENT OF UROLOGY AT UPMC
Since 1999, Joel Nelson, MD has helped to build UPMC’s urology program into one of the world’s premier
centers for the most advanced diagnosis, treatment, and research in prostate and urological cancers
and disorders. Dr. Nelson is a leader both in performing sophisticated surgery for prostate cancer and in
developing new scientific research aimed directly at treating urological cancers. In addition to delivering
first-rate patient service at the one-of-a-kind Urological Comprehensive Care Program at UPMC, the
Department of Urology provides support for a number of research projects attacking urological cancers
and other disorders from many angles. Dr. Nelson and his colleagues continue to seek new ways to
diagnose cancer as early as possible, identify genetic traits that indicate increased risk for certain types
of cancers, and determine how patients might avoid multiple battles with cancer.
JOSH MILLER FAMILY TRUST
The Josh Miller Family Trust, a fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation, provides tools and mentorship for
children’s programs across the region. The Josh Miller Family Trust embodies Josh's values of dedication,
leadership, and trust through community involvement and sports. Education, athletics, and wellness
activities serve as the foundation for youth development.

This year’s tournament will take place on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Pittsburgh Field Club in
Fox Chapel, PA. Each foursome is paired with a celebrity athlete for a round of golf, cocktails,
dinner, and an awards ceremony. A pre-tournament party, our athletes and sponsors gala, will
be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Heinz Field’s UPMC East Club Lounge. Partygoers kickoff the tournament with cocktails, entertainment, dinner, and dancing while enjoying beautiful
