Social Responsibility.
Hadi, Bonjour and Hello,
In my 8 years at our school I have to say
that last Thursday had to be the craziest of Crazy
Hair Days. Our parents and kids and SO creative.
Thanks for showing your school spirit in such a big
way.
Thank you to the Vanderhoof Public Library
who brought Teddy Anderson to our school today.
He is a talented hoop dancer and we were all
entertained and amazed by his performance and
his powerful message to “be the change you want
to see in the world.”
Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day. We hope
everyone will wear orange to honour those who
have been affected by the Residential School
system and to commit to ensuring we never forget
that everyone matters.
Tomorrow is also the 35th Terry Fox School
Run for cancer research. We will meet in the gym
at 1:45 and Mrs. Geddes students will share
PowerPoints they have been working on to teach
us about Terry Fox. After that we’ll head over to
Riverside Park to do our run. Just like Terry, we will
run rain or shine so please make sure kids are
dressed appropriately. Please support this
important cause by donating as much as you can.
Even $2.00 helps and it all adds up!
Thursday is our ICORD Ultimate Frisbee
Tournament. This day is a McLeod hosted event to
raise money and awareness for Spinal Cord injury
research and support. It’s the 17th Annual
Tournament and we are thrilled students from all
around our area will be able to have fun while
raising money to help those in need. Many thanks
to Mrs. Worthington, Mr. Antoski and Mme Leclerc
for all their work to make this happen.
Proud to be McLeod
Ms. L. Hart
Our Daily Promise
It is a new day at McLeod
and I am going to fill it
with learning, kindness and caring.

Allergies at McLeod
This year at McLeod we have a few
students who are very allergic to
some foods. In order to keep these
students healthy and safe we ask
that students do not bring the
following to school:
 School wide - no hazelnuts (ie.
Nutella).
 Mme Susie’s class – hazelnut and
brazil nut free.
 Mme Gauthier’s class – all nuts and
fish free.
 Mrs. Gridley’s Class – no nuts or
shellfish
We ask that students who bring peanut
products for their lunches or snacks to
please eat in a non-nut-free classroom and
wash their hands when they are finished.
Thanks for helping keep all our staff and
students safe.
Stay in touch!
Connect with me through text. Just send a
message to me at 567- 8539 with your
name and a simple “hello” and I’ll try to
send you a few pics or a message about
your child at school throughout the year. ~ Ms. Hart
LEAVING THE SCHOOL at LUNCH
All students who leave the school during the
day must be signed out at the office by a
parent/guardian. This will help us keep
track of everyone and keep everyone safe.
ONLY grade 6 students are permitted to
sign out at lunch with the following rules:
- Bring a note from a parent/guardian for
that specific day (no last minute phone calls
or texts)
- Go with a buddy who also has a note
- Do not go anywhere near NVSS
- Go for a specific purpose (i.e. lunch,
errand)
- Go and come back right away, no hanging
out Downtown
- Only go once in a while. This should be a
special occasion.
- Be role models and Proud to be McLeod
Representatives. Grade 6 students who do
not follow these rules will lose their
opportunity to sign out at lunch.

RE: POOR VISIBILITY /ROAD CONDITIONS
On occasion we experience low visibility and or
poor road conditions that compromise our ability to
stop safely on public roadways. This can be as a
result of dense fog, heavy snow or icy conditions. In
these situations our drivers use their best judgment
to determine if the stop can be done safely in
accordance with, Motor Vehicle Act and
Regulation. In these situations parents will need to
make alternate arrangements for their children. If
you suspect these conditions exist you can contact
us to make alternate arrangements by contacting
your Transportation Coordinator in your area.
