The Great Gatsby Last Page Writing Assignment

Assignment: Write a one-paragraph analysis of one aspect of the last page of the novel.
Your paper should be between 2/3 of a page and 1-page in length.
It must be phrased and presented in the “Fitzgerald does x in order to y” format.
It must focus on some specific trait or pattern that you’ve noticed in the last five paragraphs, from
the phrase “On the last night…” (179) to the last sentence, “…ceaselessly into the past” (180).
It must be typed double-spaced, in standard font with standard margins, etc. No title needed.
Do not help one another to develop your topic, including by using social media. Come up with your
own idea / topic, even if it’s hard—perhaps especially if it’s hard.
It’s due on Monday February 22.
