Affirmation of Faith (unison)
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
PREPARATION FOR BAPTISM
Remembrance of Baptism

Reflection on Baptism
As the baptismal candidates prepare to enter the sacred waters, you are also invited to
prepare for this moment. If you were baptized as a child, recall what you have been
told about that day. If you were older and can remember your baptism, reflect on that
experience. If you have never been baptized, imagine what it must feel like to go
through a ritual such as this. And, as we prepare, let us prayerfully celebrate with the
ones being baptized today.

Hymns
Shall We Gather At the River?
Shall we gather at the river, where bright angel feet have trod,
With its crystal tide forever flowing by the throne of God?
(Refrain) Yes, we’ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river that flows by the throne of God.
On the margin of the river, washing up its silver spray,
We will walk and worship ever, all the happy golden day. (Refrain)
Ere we reach the shining river, lay we every burden down;
Grace our spirits will deliver, and provide a robe and crown. (Refrain)
Soon we’ll reach the shining river, soon our pilgrimage will cease;
Soon our happy hearts will quiver with the melody of peace. (Refran)

Wash, O God, Your Sons and Daughters
Wash, O God, your sons and daughters,
newborn creatures of your womb.
Number them among your people,
raised like Christ from death and tomb.
Weave them garments bright and sparkling;
compass them with love and light.
Fill, anoint them; send your Spirit,
holy dove and heart’s delight.
Ev’ry day we need your nurture;
by your milk may we be fed.
Let us join your feast, partaking
cup of blessing, living bread.
God, renew us; guide our footsteps;
free from sin and all its snares,
one with Christ in living, dying,
by your Spirit, children, heirs.
O how deep your holy wisdom!
Unimagined, all your ways!
To your name be glory, honor!
With our lives we worship, praise!
We your people stand before you,
water-washed and Spirit-born.
By your grace, our lives we offer.
Recreate us; God transform!
