Andrew Jackson - Nashua School District

On January 30, 1835 Andrew
Jackson was almost assassinated
by Richard Lawrence.
Unfortunately for Richard, his
single-shot revolver had backfired
and Andrew Jackson beat up
Richard with his cane.
Bullets
Andrew Jackson had two
bullets in his body from the
duels he had. He served his
presidency with both of them
in his body.
Cantankerous
Andrew Jackson was very
cantankerous. This means
that he was angered very
easily and a pain to get along
with.
Democrat
Andrew Jackson was a
democrat during his
presidency. He served from
1829-1837
Enemies
When Andrew Jackson
would make an enemy than he
would stop at nothing to
crush them. He hired his
friends and fired his enemies.
Fighter
Andrew Jackson was one
of those people who wasn’t
afraid to start and finish a
fight. He was also a
fighter for the people.
General
Andrew Jackson was a
major general during the
War of 1812. He beat the
British in a battle at New
Orleans. He also asked to be
called general instead of
president during his term.
Hero
Andrew Jackson was very
popular after his victory in
New Orleans. He was
considered a hero in the
people’s point of view.

Andrew Jackson had a very
strong will and wouldn’t stop
fighting for his cause until he
got his way.
Jackass
“Jackass” was what they
called him. Andrew Jackson
was loved and hated by many
people. His enemies called
him Jackass and it stuck to
him. Andrew Jackson took
the name up as his slogan
name and it became the
Democrat’s symbol.

Andrew Jackson was
sometimes called King
Andrew because some people
thought he was too strong.

Andrew Jackson was born in
a log cabin in the western
territories. No on actually
knows where he was born . He
was the first president to be
born in a log cabin.
Man for the People
Andrew Jackson was a man for
the people. He would fight for
their rights and was very famous
to them. On the day he took office
a local newspaper wrote, “It was a
proud day for the people.
General Jackson is their own
president”. He also didn’t trust
the rich, and well educated.
Nickname
Andrew Jackson has had 2
nicknames during his life. His
first was “Old Hickory”. He got
this name for his toughness as a
general in the war of 1812. His
second was “Jackass”. This one
was received by his enemies.
Whoever hated him called him
this. Also, he was named King
Andrew because some people
thought he was too powerful.
Old Hickory
Because of his toughness and
bravery in the War of 1812,
Andrew Jackson was
nicknamed “Old Hickory”.
This was a nickname that
stuck with him through his
time as a general.
Powerful
Andrew Jackson was very
powerful. He would always
intimidate people to get them
on his side. He also would act
very furious in meetings so
people would choose his side.
Quincy
In 1824, Andrew Jackson and
John Quincy Adams both ran
for president. Andrew Jackson
won more vote, but had fewer
electoral votes. Andrew Jackson
ended up beating Adams. Adams
ran again in 1828 and beat
Andrew Jackson.
Rachael
Rachael Jackson was Andrew
Jackson’s only wife. She had
no children at all. She lived
from June 15, 1767 to
December 22, 1828. She was
from Virginia.
Andrew Jackson was a very
serious man. He made sure that he
was running the nation the right
way and that everyone agreed.
Andrew Jackson did not let
anyone take him for granite.
Andrew Jackson had a very
bad temper. Although, he
knew how to use his temper to
get his way during his
presidency.
